Since I read the original books, the unaltered 1984 Dune version was very clear to me as well. Terrific movie. I heard the Malone podcast from Joe Rogan and really thought it was great. My take from the podcast is that Dr. Malone is trying to imply the vaccine may have the ancillary purpose of depopulation through infertility (the vaccine harms the eggs when injected into females).
It was nice to hear the one on one conversation with Dr. Malone.
Overall, things just look bad.
