There is definitely some climate change going on, but whether it's manmade is in question. Unfortunately, like many other things in "science", you are not allowed to question it. This has given rise to two bad sides of the same coin -- those who insist climate change is certainly manmade, and those who deny climate change is occurring.
The smart approach is to engage in unbiased study of the causes, while looking more towards living with it -- and mitigation of possible damage/death from disasters springing from it.
The hurricane thing is interesting. In 2005, after Katrina and other big hurricanes that year, climate change fanatics were insisting this was the new normal. They said that horrendous hurricane seasons were going to be something we will see each year, and in fact it will get worse.
However, this did not come to pass. In fact, aside from 2008, the next several hurricane seasons were BELOW average severity, so that narrative went away, and they pretended they never said it.
The weather is a funny thing. You think you understand its long term patterns, until you realize you don't.
