Some people actually love the movie because they watched it when they were a kid or teenager, and it resonates with them.
I remember watching it back in when it came out and I didn't like it very much and completely forgot about it.
Today it was on Encore or some channel like that and I watched it with my Uncle.
I laughed my ass off through most of it but found the last 20 minutes a bit challenging as the humor was starting to wear thin.
I think a viewing every 20 some odd years is good enough for me.
I can't understand making that movie or acting in it and looking around at everyone in agreement that we did it, we made a great movie!!!
Scott Glen being Scott Glen is about the best thing in the movie for me and you get a somewhat evil Bill Paxton.
It's hard to imagine Scott Glen as some top-level climber though.
Yes, just having Scott Glenn in it makes it worth a watch since he is a cult favorite. Same with Bill Paxton (RIP). I just watched one of Scott's earlier films a few weeks back on the free air channel Comet. Gargoyles (mediocre at best). I remember seeing the ads for Vertical Limit on television, but never got around to seeing it back then. Chris O'Donnell was just past the zenith of his career at that time IIRC, but somehow wore out his welcome as far as big budget films go, and now has a good television career I guess.
    Thanks again.

After viewing Vertical Limit, I think a better name for the film would be Final Destination:Mountain Climbing Edition. Like clockwork, pitons give way at each critical juncture - if something can go wrong that causes people to hang off a cliff, it will. Then you have Chris O'Donnell leaping across a chasm with ice hammers to grip the other side of the cliff. The rescue team enjoys great weather just a few hours after the original expedition gets almost totally obliterated. So Basically, the original expedition could have just waited 8 hours or so (just after the decimating blizzard had passed) to start up the mountain. The mystical Scott Glenn interrupting the send off party and his million to one needle-in-a-haystack encounter with his deceased wife.
Anyway well worth a watch for the non-stop humor of one nearly impossible event after another. Thanks again for the reco Monet.

    "Old Henry"

An enjoyable western, with a twist, starring Tim Blake Nelson, the guy from Coen bros. "Buster Scruggs."

Seen it when it first came out.
It's a solid enough movie for a viewing or two when on TV for free.
Not worth a dvd for my collection though.

Speaking about movies, the latest two movies, out at the theater, are Violent Night and Cocaine Bear.
The youth of the world are doomed with these movie choices.
I have no interest in either unless you pay me a minimum of 600 dollars to watch the both of them.
For that payment you will get my full opinion and review, which will probably be less than 1 star out of 10, between the two of them.

thanks for the insights regarding the recent western Old Henry guys. Looks like Steven Dorff is getting more active again (he was in Paradise City also). He was great in City of Industry and Blade IMHO.

I'm on a roll now and might as well recommend this free series that is pretty well done in my opinion.
If you search out reviews, you will find people on YouTube calling this a Hollywood Version of Jesus.
I've only watched season one so far and even though it has some issues here and there, the message still hits home.
Certainly, worth a viewing if you enjoy The New Testament.
You will have to read the gospels, for yourself, if you want to learn more.
But the message is pretty simple no matter what medium you choose.
The message is to Love God with all your Heart first and to love your neighbor as yourself.
You will have to decide for yourself if Jesus is the Son of God and the Word turned into Flesh.

The production of this series is pretty impressive and supposedly 100% crowdfunded.
They plan to do seven parts and it looks like season 4 is 7% funded.
I don't want to get into how much money is being funneled or if they are buying 500-dollar hammers like the government.
I probably should have edited that sarcasm out since the production of this show is pretty high quality and better than most things Hollywood is producing these days.
I guess that Angel Studios has an app but I couldn't find it for my TV and watched it on my computer instead.
They put episode one and two on YouTube.
Anyways, on a Jesus kick since Christmas.
All episodes are free on the Angel Studio Website listed below...

    Movie Reco for Mrs. V
I never thought I would make it past 2 minutes, but this B movie kept me entertained over 90.
And I was completely sober during the entire film.
It helped that nothing in the movie was woke.
It's possible that the movie was anti-woke without saying it.
Damn near the same level as Half Baked without any known actors.
I was searching for free movies, and this popped up and I wanted to see how long before I would shut it off.
    I blinked first.
After recommending the Jesus Miniseries, I go and recommend a Stoner Movie.
    Ridiculous.
It appears, my hypocrisy knows no bounds.

You have got to be Fucking Kidding me!?
    Everyone got their hands out.
I think I actually recommended this movie in this thread.
Anyways, I own a copy of it and I watch it from time to time.
It's probably my favorite Movie Version of Romeo and Juliet.
500 Million Dollar Lawsuit ... Fuck lol.

Father Guido Sarducci steals the show in this movie. Most of you have probably seen this. But for the few that haven't, you're in for a treat:
    Head Office (1985)

Thanks for the Reco... just noticed this post.
If you want to watch remakes, they are currently remaking Road House with Jake Gyllenhaal & Conor McGregor.
And The Rock wants to remake Big Trouble in Little China.
I'm good with the originals and doubt I would watch either remake.
Kurt Russell is basically on the same level as Keven Costner when it comes to being cool in movies, in my opinion that is.
Interesting Note: They both played Wyatt Earp in two different movies and both movies were stellar.
They also seemed to have fun robbing a Casino in: 3000 Miles to Graceland.

No problem Monet. I too will not be watching the remakes - I agree with you that the originals were both solid. I like Kurt Russell's work better than Kevin Costner's in general. Maybe it is because I like science fiction movies (The Thing,Soldier and Stargate are in Kurt's resume). Kevin did a great job in Waterworld and that is a science fiction movie, but Kurt just did more of them. Kurt's sci-fi masterpiece Escape from New York is untouchable IMHO.

    No doubt.
He is pretty damn good in every movie.
I love Used Cars and The Best of Times.
He was pretty good in that movie Breakdown.
It's hard to find a bad movie with him in it.
He auditioned for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo if you didn't already know that so that would of been a huge SciFi Movie for him if he got in.

I don't usually like these kinds of movies, but I did like Death Proof and I'm willing to be you liked that movie.
Him in that movie is proof that he can make any script work lol.

Oh yeah even the family movie Captain Ron is pretty good.
He was good in the first half of Bone Tomahawk but that got weird for me lol.
It's really hard to find a horrible movie of his.
    Shit, you must love Stargate!

He even made two Santa Claus movies that are pretty darn good.
    First one better of course.

Yes when I saw Stargate in the theater when it came out I joked with my friend just after the movie that I wish that a Stargate pinball machine would be made. Sure enough Premier/Gottlieb came out with a Stargate pinball machine and it was excellent just like the movie. In the movie, when the nuke goes off to destroy the escaping starship, you see a silhouette of an alien form in the human body of the god (Anubis IIRC, but I could be wrong). However in the TV series the writers changed things up and made the aliens slug-like parasites that control and enhance humans rather than a disguised human form as in the movie. I think they thought it would too expensive to do it that way in the TV series. You are right, I really liked Death Proof - he doesn't play villains quite as often as he plays good characters so that was cool to see. I haven't seen Bone Tomahawk so I appreciate the reco. I agree about Used Cars and Best of Times - especially Used Cars. Shit, I even thought Sky High was funny. I don't remember seeing the Santa Claus movies so I will look those up. Now that you bring it up, I do vaguely remember him saying that he auditioned for the Star Wars movie. I also remember him saying during an interview that he was the first guy to report the Triangle UFOs flying over Phoenix, Arizona which he observed flying his private plane with his son.
I have not seen Art of the Steal yet, so I will download that one and see it in the near future along with Bone Tomahawk.

Another movie that I thought was great was Miracle (Kurt played the coach of the US Hockey team that won the Olympics in 1980). I don't remember seeing the Santa Claus movies so I will look those up. Yes, even him in Sky High was entertaining enough for a viewing.
I actually own a dvd of Bone Tomahawk but I never watch it.
I think you'll like it cause it has half horror in it.
Starts out as a Western and that's why I bought it, thought it was a Western.
Art of the Steal is plenty good enough for a viewing or two... one of those fun movies you just ride along with.
I did not know he was the first to report the UFO over Phoenix... that's pretty wild information, thanks!
Yes, hockey so of course I really like Miracle.

Very funny outtakes, thanks for the link. I can see the humor style similarities with Napoleon Dynamite that you mentioned - also similarities to School of Rock which was also written by Mike White as mentioned in the Nacho Libre Special Features you linked to; and Mike White's Orange County as well.

Tenacious D Pick of Destiny was really funny (different writer and humor style) - but I saw it so many years ago that I don't remember it as clearly as I wish I did.

Look, I love Bill Murray and I loved the original Blues Brothers and Alien is a masterpiece but do these Fuckers have to keep making sequels. Can't they just enjoy their money, in their old age and stop making horrible remakes or sequels. Fuck... well, at the very least, they better get Rick Moranis! Pretty dumb with no Fucking Egon. And Part 2 was beyond stupid lol, only part 1 makes sense. I didn't watch the female version, or the remake woke version or whatever it was so I can't comment on those.

Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver set to reunite for Ghostbusters sequel
