The woman now in a coma got drunk in Las Vegas, where it is legal to drink and buy alcohol 24 hours a day, and to open carry alcohol on the strip.
It is a well known fact, indeed it is encouraged by the casinos, that many people come to sin city to gamble, drink and get loaded on "free" booze.
Hell, the casinos want you to get plastered so you cannot make intelligent choices about gambling.
Given this fact one would certainly EXPECT that ER doctors would all be up to speed on all aspects of treating acute intoxication and resulting injuries.
Obviously not the case in Las Vegas.
