It's already possible in a few spots. Byron Park, Connecticut is a mile from Port Chester, New York, and Northvale, New Jersey is just 20 miles from there.

Stevensville, Delaware is just 5 miles from Whitehall Manor, Maryland.

Washington DC and Arlington, Virginia are just across the river from each other.

Michigan, Ohio and Indiana come together at Billingstown, Ohio. Easy loop to make.
That's why I said two to three states at a go. You can do the juncture states. But you can't sustain it for any real amounts unless you're playing the extended family game, and that's easy enough for people to identify. So eventually you get cross-referenced and identified. And when that happens, the gig is up.
