The ditz lied right there...""Mickey claimed he could snag Room 861 at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas for fifty dollars a night."...that statement was an outright lie.

Had Mickey not used a comp, and had he gotten a receipt proving he got the room for any price OTHER than fifty bucks he'd have lost the challenge.

He has a 90-day countdown.

I'm not sure that reserving the room and never checking in will generate a receipt for the rate that was reserved. They will charge a no-show fee if you never check in, but it may be the rack rate. That's probably noted in the reservation T&C.
