The simple explanation is usually the correct one. He had years to wear smooth his Blackjack stories, so they made relative sense. He just read and read until he could speak without making a foolJ of himself on the topic. However, the couple times he was actually observed in action, the play, the red to green action, did not support the online story.

With everything else, all his other claims, when he hasn't had years to polish his story, he's gotten caught in lies.
