I used to feel that way Boz. Not obligated, but I wanted to give back some. But that really ended for the most part after I left WoV. there is really no helping any new players on the forums I have been on the last 6-7 years. Although occasionally, someone reads something I have written and still contacts me privately asking questions. It has happened twice at a blackjack forum that now has very little traffic and once at GF, where I shared some pretty good stuff about when my brother was starting out not all that long ago. So it doesn't all go to waste. Someone can read something years later and still benefit by it.
BUT for the most part I am just trolling and entertaining myself, just the same as you and everyone else. I get a real kick out of fucking with the people that hate because they are bigots and can't even bring themselves to say or maybe realize that. I can almost see them boiling when I just post, no matter what it is. Now THAT is entertainment!
I guess my believing I have an obligation to help newer players (not really an obligation) has been replaced by me believing that I and every other real player have a right to call out complete bullshit.
Like a blackjack player who invented a super duper count and claims it gives him a 5% advantage.
Or a guy that claims he counted cards professionally in Reno of all places.
Or Singer and his way too many to list bullshit claims
Or Mdawg who has turned into the new Singer with such claims as $100-$5000 bet spreads playing double deck for 10 straight hours.
Even Jstat who pops up somewhere every few years claiming card counting and hi-lo doesn't work because there was a tiny non-significant error in Beat the Dealer 60 years ago.
I have that right, as do other real players to call bullshit on this stuff. And T3 aside, (that was the super duper count guy) all the rest go berserk and start attacking and even threatening you when you do call them out. A very dis-proportional response. That seems to be their problem and not mine.
