Let's say you're reading a novel. In it, the author describes our protagonist waking up and drinking straight from the bottle of bathtub gin that he keeps next to his bed.
Now, as far as I am concerned, if someone wants to drink gin all day long or do drugs or whatever that's his affair. Some are able to function even function decently in that state.
But, when the author describes someone doing that, drinking in that way, it means something.
Similarly, your description of pounding Everclear on top of pain pills putting yourself into a stupor (something like what we experienced with AxelWolf prior couple of weeks) just before finals means something. It means you were an alcoholic all your life, just that it took some years before the drinking advanced caught up with you to where you had to quit or face some really serious problems. And you didn't really quit did you, just segued into using more marijuana and Xanax or whatever it is that you stockpile there for your routine consumption.
Again, not judging. Just saying.
