How supposedly intelligent people can confuse and conflate my frequent proclamations that "I am an atheist" with "Mr. V is Jewish" is beyond me.
Maybe they think that "my people" were Jewish and that I strayed and no longer believe?
My ancestors were northern and central European, either Catholic (father's side) or Episcopalian (mother's side: fact is, an ancestor was the first Episcopal bishop in NJ, and my cousin is an Episcopal priest).
I was raised Catholic; never molested by a priest, but their indoctrination mind-fucked me to a point: I broke away at around age 14 or 15 and now do not believe in god or attend religious services at all.
I simply cannot believe in an invisible being whose existence cannot be proven and who allegedly determines my fate; nor do I believe in Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, or The Sandman.
I do have an interest in zen: not as a religion but as a way to approach living one's life.
OK lads, carry on...
Coming soon: "Mr. V owns a pizza parlor and runs a pedophile ring..."
