As best as I can discern from a lifetime of watching war movies and reading war novels and histories, people in military intelligence do not go out and kill people, that isn't their job.
Of course, as any soldier would they've had basic training but why would they need to have advanced training in killing, if they're typically in a safe location, away from battle?
I used the word "operative" to denote the folks who do go behind enemy lines and kill: in modern history some of them have been CIA and never military intelligence.
