I am a very passive partner in a business that happens to sit behind an AM/PM station, which for awhile I was going to several times per week. The young kid that usually
worked the register, his Dad owned the AM/PM. It was always a friendly chit chat with him. He was aware I was associated with the business located behind his store. One Saturday, I stopped in the AM/PM for a drink, and he asked me if I would be at the business. I told him, yes I was going to stop by.
About 10 minutes later, I am at the business and there is a group of 5 or 6 of us standing around talking. A Tesla pulls up and all the guys I was talking with instantly had their attention on the car. I am NOT a "car guy". To me it was "just a Tesla". He looked at me and said, "you want to ride?" I said "umm... Sure" as I didn't know why he was asking and I also didn't want to be rude. Some of the other guys appeared to be salivating about him asking me, knowing I am the least bit interested in cars out of that group. Now looking back, I'm sure they were hoping I would say, "No, take one of them."
I get in, he says let's go to a street that happened to not be far away, but it is "wide open". Still not knowing exactly why he ask me to come along. We get to the street, he brought the Tesla to a dead stop in the middle of this street with another vehicle about 100 yards behind us. Speed limit was around 50 MPH.
And that is when he accelerated and we went from ZERO to SIXTY in about 2 seconds!
Wow, what a ride!
Not until we were on our way back, he ask me, "Do you realize this is the FASTEST Zero to Sixty production car on earth?" 0-60 in 2.06 sec. In private testing, I believe 1 even broke 2 second barrier.
I said, "That's cool bro"...
He looked very annoyed LOL
Don't get me wrong, it was a blast, but I am sure the others would have enjoyed it far more!
He said, there was a long waiting list for it when they bought it. He said after everything, out the door, it was over $200k.
