At a recent casino drawing, the emcee decided it would be a good idea to ask winners what they would do with the money. The responses went about as you would expect, and it wasn't even late into the evening.

The classic response is, "I'll spend a third of it gambling, a third of it on hookers, and the rest I'll waste."

I have given that response, not sure who first said it, in answer to public questions.

Get drunk and roll around in my own vomit?" Was the response? I honestly expected you to say something like,"Gamble more."

Yes, according to experts, it's important to maintain your usual routine.

Thanks, coach. I had never seen that version.

I first saw it attributed to WC Fields. I'll go with him.

“I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted.”
    ― WC Fields

That's it! The original version! I vaguely recall it from some film class I took way back when. That must have been where I first heard it. Famous folks have put their own tweeks on it through the years.

    Thanks.

I haven't rushed to pile on Mission, because it doesn't involve me, and I haven't wanted to rush to judgement before he had his say.

But here are some initial thoughts. Wasn't Mission fairly recently working as a night auditor at a small rural motel? (something like that). That doesn't scream a guy who has a lot of "extra" disposable money to me. So why he would be funding the prize money for a contest doesn't make sense to me. Maybe it is something he enjoyed.

That said, reneging, and that is what this has been so far, is a bad quality. But again, I would like to hear from him what was up with that. Maybe the contests ending in February, when Christmas spending bills are coming due wasn't good timing for him. Maybe something else required his money at that particular time. But now 3 months later, it certainly isn't a good look.

I would think if there was something in his life that would require him to delay on paying, but he still intended to pay, he would have contacted someone, maybe Shackleford. There probably would have been several members at WoV that would have been willing to help him out.

All that said, and all that on Mission, this isn't a good look for WoV and the Casino Bonus group either. While Mike nor the LCB group sponsors that contest, it is billed as the WoV football contest, so again, I would have thought someone would have had a desire to step in and lend some money or whatnot to avoid this really bad look for the forum.

Just some thoughts on the matter. I always liked Mission, even though I sometimes disagreed with him and hope he is alright.
Dan Druff: "there's no question that MDawg has been an obnoxious braggart, and has rubbed a ton of people the wrong way. There's something missing from his stories. Either they're fabricated, grossly exaggerated, or largely incomplete".

I did say that maybe every WOV Poster could give like $10/$20 to get Mission out of trouble and say something like,"This is your ONE free get out of jail card. If you EVER pull this not paying out a Contest stunt again, you will be permanently banned. Mdawg said something like,"The problem with WOV is that there are only about a couple of dozen Active Posters. The rest are just casual Posters who lurk and not post/engage. "

I think we are talking about different things, Tasha. I am not suggesting taking up a collection to cover missions debt. He IS responsible for that.

I am just suggesting that being Misson has worked for first Mike and now the casino bonus people, working for peanuts, and has enough good will build up with others, that if he found himself in a bit of a bind, perhaps someone could have helped UNTIL he was able to meet his obligation. It didn't have to get to this point.

IIRC, it is probably like $1,500. Mission owed $1,000 to DJ Chaps and other people were owed money too, but nowhere as much as DJ Chaps.

Time to call the gambling message boards, officially dead. Mission146 is as dead as the boards that he posts on. I have no idea about the one that he writes for, and, so, that one never got off the ground. Ha.

P.S. Just checking for an anagram match, now ...

Nope, nothing. The thus solution for the line above is, "The Hidden Case of Ewan Forbes: The Transgender Trial that Threatened to Upend the British Establishment".

After his cousin contested the inheritance on the grounds that it could only be inherited by a male heir, Ewan was forced to defend his male status in an extraordinary court case, testing the legal system of the time to the limits of its understanding.
Looks like also my anagrams are about as dead. Sigh!

Every one /everyone knows it all; yet, no thing /nothing is truly known by any one /anyone. Similarly, the suckers think that they win, but, the house always wins, unless to hand out an even worse beating.

I guess what I don't understand is why Shackleford wouldn't just front the money on the quiet so the forum doesn't look like a circus. The optics of a highfalutin' forum allowing a contest where the administrators can't cover $1500 isn't helpful to WOV at all. Makes it look like, as Trumpster might say, a swamp. An overrated swamp at that.

I really don't get it. If I were in Shackleford's shoes, it's a no-brainer. You cover the money and tell Mission to pay you back when he can, or all such contests are permanently retired from the forum.

Not a hard decision. It's easily worth the $1500 for the forum reputation.

"Optics/ front the money on the quiet."
    That sports tout thinking.

The right thing to do... WAS to let everyone know there was an issue with the payment of funds from a member of the forum. Not to hide and cover it up. People should know if someone owes money and isn't paying it on time. Covering somthing up isn't good for the reputation of the forum.

I myself was temporarily banned from here when I freerolled a Lottery bet. I was so SURE that 101 would come up within two weeks, and it DIDN'T. It came up the THIRD week. I hemmed and hawwed and didn't pay.

Dan said something like,"Since Tasha didn't pay her freeroll Lottery bet that she lost, I am banning her." I got banned. On WOV where I was still active, I sent Axelwolf an Amazon gift card with the freeroll Lottery bet money to send to Dan and Axelwolf said something like,"Dan checked the Amazon gift card and it is active and has exactly the amount of money Tasha owes and Dan said he will reinstate Tasha and I was reinstated.

On WOV, I had made the same freeroll Lottery bet (I had made this freeroll Lottery bet simultaneously on VCT and WOV) and I TRIED to weasel my way out by saying I would DOUBLE the freeroll if 101 didn't come up within the THIRD week.

Wizard said something like,"No, you can't just offer to double the freeroll Lottery bet if 101 doesn't come up within the third week. The freeroll Lottery bet was for two weeks and you didn't win within the allotted two weeks, so you are supposed to payout. A lady or a gentleman is suppose to pay their debt if the original bet is post, not add an additional week for double the payout." I paid the payout and lo and behold, 101 came up within the THIRD week like I had felt would happen. I REALLY should have just said three weeks right off the bat.
