Wiz World is a somewhat cloistered environment. Mission146 has done this in the past and the WoV members were OK with a slow pay and knew they would collect eventually. Mission146 felt he was being attacked unfairly. Mission146's mistake was shutting down about it. He should have offered a payment plan.

If you get in over your head with the bar room bookie and you maintain contact and explain it then he will allow payments until you catch up. This is pretty standard in the gambling world. The situation gets worse if you won't admit the debt or try to hide.

DJChaps wasn't used to the genteel behavior of WoV. He was way out of line for WoV.

I've met DJChaps in person. Always liked him, and he even did a favor for me about a decade ago that he didn't have to do (and it had nothing to do with money on either end).

With that said, anyone following his antics on PokerFraudAlert (my other site) knows that Chappy is perpetually broke, which led to his aggression in trying to get paid regarding his contest win.

At the same time, Mission146 seems to have money management issue himself. He's an intelligent guy, a good poster, and very generous to run these contests (especially given his on-and-off financial issues), but clearly he once again hit financial hard times at the same time the contest concluded.

It's a tough spot. Mission146 did not HAVE to run this contest. He did it on his own, and committed his own funds.

At the same time, that's not DJChaps' problem. He thought he won the money, and simply wanted what was owed to him.

At the same time, nobody should whine too loud when a forum's free contest doesn't get paid in a timely fashion.

At the same time, it's understandable why Shackleford felt this made his forum look bad, and why he felt he needed to take some action.

At the same time, Mission146 has done this before, and has always paid up. He's clearly not a scammer or a welcher. He just runs into financial difficulties, and seems embarrassed to discuss/admit it, so he ghosts for awhile until he gets things in order.


Honestly it's not straightforward at all regarding the correct solution here.

I hope Mission146 gets his financial issues in order, and this all resolves.

Speaking of DJ Chaps, I read the entire "Please loan me $1,000 for Rent money! Thread on Poker Fraud Alert and what a ride! I l didn't get why DJ Chaps got ragged and dragged when Limitles spent a night ranting and raving on him and DJ Chaps merely said his real first name. Posters really sunk their claws into DJ Chaps the VICTIM when they should have been sinking their claws into Limitles. Limitles attacked the shit out of DJ Chaps and DJ CHAPS is the one the Posters were mad at? What the FUCK? The Posters were like,"DJ Chaps, you are a real piece of shit for revealing Limitles real name and owe him an apology!" Uh, where was the sympathy for DJ Chaps? Limitles was attacking him like a wild animal! Sure Limitles loaned him $250/$500, but that did not give him carte blanche to go attack him like a wild animal!

My suggestion that every WOV Member pay about $10/$20 for Mission's debt might not be as feasible as I thought. On another Website, the Admin asked Posters to donate ONE DOLLAR to help keep the site running and multiple Posters BALKED at the idea.

The CURRENT Website has been in effect since 2008 and before that, it was there since 1997. The Admin pays almost $40 for Website Hosting and does this ALL on his own. He also pointed out he is raising a CHILD and also paying his basic needs and basic expenses in top of the almost $40 a month and is JUST asking for ONE dollar from Posters to keep the Website going. A Poster straight up said something like,"I feel uncomfortable that the Admin is begging us to give him a dollar. I am seriously considering abandoning this Website and going solely to Websites that don't beg Posters for a dollar."

Sad thing is, this Poster was one of the original Posters from 1997! So had been a Poster for 27 years and seriously considered abandoning the Website over being asked by the Admin for ONE dollar? What the FUCK? I would consider giving him a dollar but he only accepts PayPal and I don't have money in a PayPal Account, so I can't do it.

Speaking about appreciating Mission146, I got a text "Promotion," from "Gulfstream Park Casino," saying something like,"Congratulations, you have won the Hot Seat Promotion. You have received 500 in free play available from 8 PM-10 PM.

It looked REALLY legitimate but I saw a few red flags in that they gave me only a two hour window to go get my free play, there was a legitimate Hot Seat Promotion, but that Hot Seat Promotion had happened on the Sunday two days prior and I had been working when that Hot Seat Promotion happened, so I definitely wasn't present when it was going on, and I thought it was odd that I was given only a two hour window to get my Promotion.

The next day, I went to Gulfstream Park Casino since I legitimately already had some free play there. I went to the Player's Club and showed the Staff Member the "Promotion," text. The Staff Member said something like,"That Promotion didn't come from us. We don't text Promotions like that." He got his Manager to make sure and the Manager also said something similar. In fact, Gulfstream Park Casino STILL had my OLD phone number on file, not my new phone number.

I mentioned all of this to VCT. About two days later, I got another similar text "promotion," saying something like,"Play $5 and get $1,000 in free play!" I got similar text "Promotions," and posted them to VCT.

Mission said something like,"Okay, the VERY first two text "Promotions," were FUNNY, but it does seem like harassment after the first funny two texts. I feel sorry for you and maybe you should ask your cellphone Provider to change your number for you, showing the text "Promotions," mention that Gulfstream Park Casino doesn't do text Promotions, and maybe they'll change your number for free."

The new text "Promotions," stopped being"Promotions," and started being straight up NASTY(I was being straight up INSULTED ) I posted the insulting texts to VCT too and IIRC Mission once again was like,"Change your phone number, you're straight up being insulted now." And instead of changing my phone number, I FINALLY got some common sense and blocked the number.

I did eventually come to my senses and realized that I needed to block that number, albeit I only blocked the number soon after I started getting nasty and insulting text messages, and realized in hindsight I should have blocked the number as soon as Gulfstream Park Casino Player's Club Staff and Manager both said that Gulfstream Park Casino doesn't give text Promotions.

Yep, Mission is a decent guy. Also minimum wage fast food employees don't have to clean up after me. I wasn't the one who took a shit in the Church's Chicken restaurant not was I the one who had a bathroom emergency at the Raising Cane's restaurant. Those were other people.
