I'm reporting what I see. Today's atheists are outcasts who failed to fit in with the normals. And they're angry and vengeful about that. Communism is fundamentally a religion of vengeance.

I don't know what's possible in the future. The libertarian non-aggression principle is a moral guideline without an attachment to religion. Several of the major libertarian/anti-communist philosophers were non-religious (with Jewish heritage), including Ayn Rand, Ludwig von Mises, and Murray Rothbard.

But they're often perceived as immoral for endorsing selfishness.

Weird take. I've known many atheists who may not fit in but they have little to desire from "normals". They typically make quite a bit above the average. If believing in some.magic d00d in the sky is required to "fit in" then moat of them would have a laugh at you. They likely hadn't even had their atheism in their head for months.

Religion clearly doesn't seem to do much for ethics. The problem is people can pretend and abuse it just as easily as they can practice it. If you're given rules then told it doesn't matter what you do - as long as you believe, then what is the mechanism of producing morality that is different from growing up in any reasonable community and family?

Oh boy! JSTAT. I just mentioned him at GF today, because I am dealing with a guy who has very much the same agenda as good old Jstat. The guy was tearing down Don Schlesinger and the Illustrious 18, just the way Jstat used to go after Thorp for a very minor mistake in the original beat the dealer.

Anyway, I had quite a back and forth with JSTAT i don't know probably10 years ago, when he was relentlessly pushing his JSTAT count and claiming hi-lo and other counts didn't work....ONLY his.

And then he disappeared for a good while. Or at least I didn't encounter him. I think I heard or read he has switched over to playing bacarát with his miracle all things JSTAT count. And then like a good bout of diarrhea, we was back maybe 2 years ago, picking up right where he left off. I couldn't resist engaging with him, but tried to be more mellow and respectful this second time around.

I don't know it seems like I engaged with him not too, long ago either here or at GF. But maybe it has been as long as you say he has been MIA. I do hope he is well and nothing happened to him though.

You know what one of my big problems with Jstat was. He talked like he was a professional player, making a living from his play. But he was a mailman. There is nothing wrong with that, but come on, there is a major difference in playing for a living and playing recreationally. And it is a little offensive when a part-time recreational guy is telling ALL (not just me) but ALL the professional players they are wrong.

And finally, something priceless about Jstat. he made several videos to "prove his points" about his Jstat count. he would deal the cards and go through all the motions. Of course he had pre-arranged the cards to come out and show exactly what he wanted. It was good stuff.
