Thread: Big Casino Wins and Jackpots

Well boxcars have a 2.78% chance of being rolled so it's not astronomical by any means. I find it almost less surprising that another one came again because it's not uncommon to see craps rolls group up.

But how you feel about the concept that V absolutely believed this was going to happen only reflects each of your own personal views of reality. Personally I think the power of belief is stronger than most people realize. V is not known for telling tall tales either.

The chance of making a royal while holding one card is 1 in 178,365.
Challenge to redietz. We bet every NFL regular season game. You make the picks. If you lay the fav I get 2 extra points. If you take the dog I get a 2 point discount. Easy pickings for you.

    It is!

My father, Alan Mendelson, got a couple of them not holding anything!

A lot of it must come down to not believing what's real, and, believing what's not real. Ha.

We're talking casino gambling, not religion.

Religious folks can and do happily base their fundamental belief system on the supposed existence of an invisible Supreme Being, but if a casino gambler were to disregard the reality of math and base decision making on superstition or unfounded belief they'll almost certainly get crushed and ground up over time.

In the modern world casinos supplant some of the functions which had been provided by churches: surrender in search of salvation; social contact with others and of course the instilling of False Hope.

With casinos, the False Hope is for a jackpot / Big Win whereas with religion it is Eternal Life / Salvation.

Both require a form of tithing as well: "You gotta pay to play."

God help (ha-ha) the folks who are both devoutly religious and avid casino gamblers: how can they serve two masters?

I guess to do with my previous post, in this thread. In fact, the one above that you had responded to above.

Another truly neat coincidence. Almost a prophecy, of sorts. Perhaps, even another "tall tale".

Circles around old "chicken", MrV. Ha.

Garnabby, I'll ask ONE MORE TIME to provide info as to the basis for your belief that I am "chicken:" absent a coherent response you can go cluck yourself.

In specific, say, your reluctance to bet on the year of your birthday. Which was when?

    P.S.
A pun sidetracks you. It’s your friend who won’t let you get anything done. It doesn’t know how to further the conversation. It can’t help you figure out anything important… A pun distracts you from being profound. Or helpful. Or insightful.
Unlike irony, sarcasm or other forms of humor, puns go no further than the play on words. They don’t give readers a deeper understanding, they don’t make a point, and they don’t help your message as a brand.

Man, V, you continue to cowardly avoid the salient parts of things, until only your nonsense remains. So, let's see, when we avoid you as the letters in man, V ---> 5, 5, 5. Ha.

Conway, a skinny, sickly looking man, moves in with the family while recuperating from a plane crash. He begins polluting and contaminating their lives advocating pollution and filth as the healthiest lifestyle.

And, thanks, to DP, for straightening out MrV's question above, for him, and the anagram solver. Ha.

Perhaps, when it's time, I should submit my TOE to that "... fortnightly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by the Royal Society."

Same machine as the Royal last week. I couldn't get a 4oak.... After I hit this, I wanted to play until a 4oak, hit 4x8's after a couple hundred more hands and got out of there...

First time I can recall ever hitting a straight flush holding 3 to a straight flush (other than holding 3 to the royal).

Nice to catch the 4X! I am on a massive SF drought, haven't hit one since Nov of 2022. But I am not playing as much VP as I used to either.

Sf's are weird. I rarely hit them. The ones I've hit in the past were mainly dealt or holding 1. Looking for the pic of a dealt one I found I got a 3x straight flush a year ago holding 2! I guess I didn't remember it as well since it wasn't a hand pay.

Here's the last one for me: Nov 25, 2022 at the M. Actually hit 2 within 3 days on that trip... now zero in over 2 1/2 years!! But any I have pics of I've pulled them holding 4 as would be most typical.

When you think about it, there's only four combos that hit royals but 36 combos that hit SF's. I've probably hit more SF's than royals over my time playing, but not THAT many more. Maybe twice as many, if that. I've also gone on long SF droughts--some even longer than the royal droughts. It's one of the reasons why I've always favored games that pay 300, 400, or 500 for the SF.

If you have RFs at same basic frequency as SFs then no wonder why your dumbaas wrote an equally dumb book.
