I didn't feel like posting these facts in the ongoing politicized global warming threads so just going to start this new thread about the current weather in Vegas You all can do with it as you please.

Prior to Sunday, the all time high temperature in Las Vegas was 117 degrees. This surprises some people who think Vegas regularly hits 120 degrees. You may see a reading downtown on top of Binions, or on the marquee at a Walgreens that reads 120+ but those are not official readings and probably result of a thermometer placed directly in the sunlight. The official reading is at the airport and like I said 117 the all time high (prior to Sunday) which had been hit 5 times in the last 85 year. 3 of those times in the last 5 year.

And then came THIS week! Todays forecast 118, which will be the 4th 117+ day in the last 5. (Tuesday ONLY hit 116). So 5 in the last 85 years.....now 4 in the last 5 days. And that includes Sundays 120 degrees which now stands as the new record.

Now you all can spin this information anyway you want to fit your political global warming opinions, but the numbers just posted are fact.

Luckily for me, I have expanded my AP play to include sports betting, which I can do from the air-conditioned comfort of my home during these days, and most of the summer if I desire.

Hmm. When I had the bar in Santa Barbara there was a gay bar in the same block and we got a lot of their business. You are sounding like some of the self-obsessed Queens I got to know in those days. To update the weather, Thursdays high was officially 118. So this weeks run has been Sunday 120, Monday 117, Tuesday 116, Wednesday 117, Thursday 118.

Again, prior to Sunday, the all time Las Vegas high temp was 117, which occurred 5 times in 85 years. We hit or eclipsed that mark 4 of the last five days, with the one day not hitting that mark at 116.

Todays forecast from National weather is again 117, but other forecasts say it will be more like 115. And then we get a break down to 110-111 for the next weeks or so. Doesn't sound like much of a difference byt 110 is noticably different than 117. And 105 (which is the average high for July) even more noticeable.

Which WAS the point of the thread. These guy want to chime in with their "yeah Vegas is a desert and hot in July" b.s.. NO SHIT!

But what makes this unusual is the numbers and frequencies. This is supposed to be a forum with guys (most) that appreciate and understand math and numbers, because that is what advantage play is.

So the key numbers are 117 degrees, 5 times over 85 years. And now this week, 117 plus 4 of 5 days. (With the lone non 117 coming in at 116).

Those numbers don't lie and shouldn't be ignored, nor dismissed, although they will be.

Yeah, and a few years ago Portland, Oregon simply shattered the prior record high...it got up to 116 degrees.
