Thread: Big Casino Losses and Torture

  1. #1
    LOL. Hope everyone contributes.

I had $20 on Justin Thomas at 40-1 and a sawbuck on Adam Scott at 100-1 to win the Scottish Open. Scott was tied for the lead with a hole to play. The other guy birdied the final hole.

I obviously got the best of the numbers for those two players. I know absolutely nothing about golf but will occasionally throw some lunch money away on end-of-bell-curve numbers if I think it's a reasonable spot.

Didn't even watch any of it, as Scott bogeyed an early hole and was sixth or seventh, four strokes behind. Checked the scores with a hole to play and was surprised.

Ok, I don't see the "big Casino loss" that was the title of your thread? Your initial post says you lost a small amount, what you referred to as "lunch money" when your 100-1 longshot lost on the last hole. So maybe you lost the potential for a big win, but if it is lunch money it wasn't a big loss?

Unless of course you were already counting it as a win (counting your chickens before they hatch), which even degenerate gamblers know not to do.

And "torture"? You just said you didn't watch most of the match. Only the last hole. If you are "tortured" over the outcome of a sports wager, well you aren't much of a sports better. Again that is the trait of a degenerate gambler.

Now maybe you just used these words and phrases for effect. Sort of wanting to vent about a bad beat. That is ok. we all do that at times. (but doesn't even seem that bad of a beat)

But I want to be supportive, so happy day to you and better luck next time with your gambling lunch money on a longshot on a sport you admittedly know nothing about.

The post is facetious, kewlJ. That would explain why it led off with "LOL." I was motivated because I just watched Daniel Negreanu's last VLOG at the WSOP, and he did get tortured in three consecutive tournaments all in one day with a 15K or thereabout collective beating (AK versus AJ and A10 gets board straight and split monster pot, followed by eliminations with hugely favored KK in consecutive tournaments).

See, the point is, has anyone here actually posted about large losses and the pain they caused? No, they haven't. Go back and read the 500,000 most recent posts here. Everybody is either brilliant or a hero or an "AP" whose "EV" was positive. Being an "AP," after all, justifies any and all large, terrible losses. Again, LOL.

I will try to be more literal next time. You know, true stories of back-rooming and arms broken and thugs robbing me and my death. Count Dietz will rise again.

Good Red. I am glad you aren't skipping lunches this week.

Red, I really don't know how you can post what you just did. I know some telling of their "adventures" only tell about winning, but I most certainly have shared everything, wins, losses, including long periods of losing, weeks and even months at time. I have shared years (multiple) that were so far below expectation, I ended up making what a fast food worker makes. The most recent of these was the covid year 2020. I shared how after casinos re-opned in June, I went on a pretty long losing period dropping 25-20 grand and was actually in the red for the year as late as October. I ended up winning about 14k from blackjack.

I don't think there is anyone on any forum that I have read that does share both winning and losing as I have done for years.

    But whatever. Do your thing.

Edit: I guess ZenKinG does also share some losses. BUT he ONLY shares a few days/session where he has big losses. I guess it is a venting thing. He doesn't tell about all the days he win. I'll call that the reverese Mdawg scenario.

Low risk/high reward plays are my forte. I’m never in a situation where I can possibly take a big loss. Assuming risk that could lead to catastrophic loss is not smart.

As a decimal my risk of ruin looks like this:

    .0000000000000000001%

I'll be honest, I don't think many can compete with a $100 lost bet.

The "gist" of this thread is sublime. Red, for no clear reason, comes up with a satirical take on losing; and being the attention-craving dipstick that he is, kew not only can't figure it out--he gives the same old rap about how he "shares his fabricated tales about winning and losing".

    Two peas in a pod.

I saw a SD Guy video, All That Glitters Slot video where he got a HUGE win at the beginning of the video and ended up with literally a few pennies, OUCH. Posters responded something like,"That game didn't take long to turn into complete shit, sad that you at first had a LOT of money, and ended up with PENNIES!

Nikki, I'm starting to think you are a bot. :/

Hey robot, we already have enough retards here, we don’t need an automated one too.

You should try an experiment and see if bots are smart enough to fuck themselves yet.

Or see if there is a program to prevent a bot from suiciding.

Didn’t everyone tell you this from the start? But then again you are a little slow.

Here’s a suggestion for a “friend” for you. I assume you have an Amazon Prime membership, so why not spend $38 out of that $500 you won and learn something about yourself?

If not else, walking around with it will get you the attention you so desire in life.

    Is it REALLY authentic?

    I didn't see that it comes with a doo-rag and a Glock.

Also--where's the basketball, watermelon, Michelin tire lips, can of Pabst, shoe shine kit, and prison bars?

Don't steal Jon Gruden's (and my) lines. I tried to find some white Michelins online, but no luck, as I explain in this and the follow-up regarding Lamar Jackson:

P.S. Pabst isn't that bad. I had one a couple of months ago after a 20-year hiatus. Not bad. A cold Pabst on a 100-degree day is A-Otay (that's a Buckwheat line in keeping with the theme).

Shouldn’t it be a 40 of Hurricane or another malt liquor? Or a grape flavored Four Loko?

That would be racist, Boz, except for the fact Blacks are 13% of the US population and buy 28% of the malt liquor. So what's a word or phrase for that? Right-as-racist? Prejudicially proper? MrV, help me out here.

I'm all for reparations paid in malt liquor. Since I'll be seeking WW 2 reparations if Trump wins (we Germans got screwed), I'm thinking sauerkraut and kielbasa.

    Kumbaya.
