You are not a thief Tasha. Ain't nobody forcing the store to accept returns without a receipt, and they knew what they would be dealing with when they decided to make that dumb policy. They probably figure that if someone is given store credit they will buy even more from the store.

    Yes, she IS a thief.

A "return" by its very definition involves an item previously purchased at the store.

Her attempt to circumvent the law is a very third-world / Jamaican play, same as asking people for money and smokin' that ganja.

Hey Karen...you DO smoke up dat ganja, eh?

Yes, and I did exactly that. I used the store credit to buy some items from that store. I then used the store credit to "return," the items at another unrelated store and bought items from them too.

Tasha, is pretending you don't know right from wrong, an autism thing? Or just more of your general internet games?

Now you just need to come up with a chain of store credit returns that leads from a Jack Daniels gift basket to a new car.

I worked at a store in high school and one grift people would try to do all them time, sometimes successfully and other times not was to buy an expensive item that was on an easily accessible shelf, say a power tool or similar.

Then later they would come back with the receipt and go grab the same item off the shelf. They would then attempt to return it with their legit receipt.

If successful they got their money back, but still had the original item at home.

This was popular with the crack whores & meth head crowd, so often they were easy to spot, but if they were newly addicted and still looked semi normal they could be tougher to spot.

In an Ocean's 8 video where Debbie Ocean takes expensive items off the shelf at a Department Store and walks up to the Cashier and says she wants to return the items, a Poster said something like,"You can buy items, keep the receipt, keep items at home, steal the same items off store shelves, and return the items you just took off the shelf. You get your money back and still have your items at home."

Here is the scene where Debbie Ocean takes expensive items off a Department Store shelf and then "Returns," them. She pretends she changed her mind and will keep them. The Cashier is even completely oblivious to the red perfume still in her hand that she doesn't ask to "return! Debbie completely gets away with stealing about three expensive perfume bottles! What Debbie did is completely theft. What I did was NOT theft. The Jack Daniels gift set and the Jim Beam gift set were legitimately mine when I returned them for store credit.

Karen, it WAS theft as you got the set at a casino: you did not buy the item at the store you did the" return" at.

Here is the relevant Florida statute on theft:

    812.014 Theft.—
    (1) A person commits theft if he or she knowingly obtains or uses, or endeavors to obtain or to use, the property of another with intent to, either temporarily or permanently:
    (a) Deprive the other person of a right to the property or a benefit from the property.
    (b) Appropriate the property to his or her own use or to the use of any person not entitled to the use of the property.

In your case the theft was of money from the store you exchanged the item at, as you were not entitled to the use of the cash as you didn't buy the set there; the store had the right to keep the money and only give it to someone who was returning an item sold to them by the store.

If you don't believe me then I suggest you go to the store you exchanged the set at and ask their Loss Control / anti-theft dept. for their thoughts on the subject, and please let us know what they tell you.

But you won't do this as it will expose you to possible legal jeopardy and you know in your heart that what you did was WRONG.

    Store buys product for X
    Store Sells product for X+Markup

You get item from 3rd party source and return it to store and they give you X+Markup (they are out of pocket more)
You use funds to get more items from store which may or may not cost them more

Not to mention other concerns especially with food and drink with batch codes, was this a batch that was actually recalled and shouldn't be on shelves? That store did not purchase that batch so unless they physically check, they will never know.

There are all kinds of issues with this. This is also why you should avoid purchasing on Amazon. People will buy items and then resell them as "new" on amazon. When you buy an item it is no longer new unless you buy it on the wholesale level.

I mean, why not go to a grocery store, use a coupon at Smiths, and then go return that item to CVS where they sell it for more and use that store credit for other items. You are in Florida so go to Publix.

Many stores have their own unique UPC codes to avoid getting scammed like this all together.

I am no longer a Treasured Player at that Casino, so I'm no longer entitled to free gift sets.

I used the store credit to buy FOOD. Which I should have clarified in the first post.

Also, I wasn't Booted, I was downgraded from Treasured Player to the lowest Tier.

A thief using stolen money to buy food does not magically erase the record of theft.

You were booted; when downgraded you lost the perk, thus you were removed or booted from the list of eligible players.

Nobody actually kicked your thieving ass to the curb, but they should have...

Tasha, why do you always make these rag-and-drag traps and then walk right into them? I agree with the other poster who said this story is made up. You're getting called a thief left and right (by degenerates) over something that 99% likely you didn't even do. Why do you like the verbal abuse?

Hey, watch who you call a "degenerate."

Just because you have claws and a stinger doesn't mean a big shoe can't squash you.

I'm starting to regret starting this thread in the first place.

This is NOT your fault, you were born poor and black and it comes naturally to you people. You invented the word “boosting” and most ghetto blacks are taught how to be proficient at it by a young age. Knowing which items to boost, their street value, where to fence them is more important than that reading, writing and arithmetic stuff. And certainly pays more.

A special skill is finding which stores accept stuff back without a receipt and it appears you graduated near the top of your class in that subject. Congratulations!

Now the next step is getting involved in the mobs that are targeting high end retailers in groups of 20-50. You need to have a plan beforehand to move the merch along with a planned split of the haul. Note that many of these swoogies won’t be honest in sharing the take, so be prepared to have to cap a few if needed.

Granted this is a step up from your current petty theft, but I personally believe you have the ability to put a team together and keep them in line. Imagine the time you could spend playing slots with just a couple good hits on Los Olas Blvd and their shops! Make your dreams come true girl!
