Thread: It seems Turbo Genius passed

Read it on GF. He was around for decades with his nonsense but he never got in the dirt like most of us. He truly believed he had a system or whatever you want to call it that allowed him to beat the math we all (ok, most of us) know is impossible.

Mr V and a few others will remember him going back to Gamblers Glen and all the roulette forums filled with scammers and dreamers.

Appears he was 55 when he passed last December and there is speculation without proof he took his own life. Who knows?

I know Nathan Detroit at GF died recently, as reported by his daughter. But at apparently a ripe old age (94).

55 is too young. Sorry to hear that, especially if it was one of those "died unexpectedly" type things.

Yea Nathan was a forum vet but as you said was old. Those Roulette guys were around for decades going back to the alt. days on user net. And they argued back and forth over their systems. One could say the trolling wars started back them.

As we have discussed here over the years many posters will pass and for the most part we will never know. They just stop posting and who knows what happened to them. WoV has more than a few over the years that I wondered what happened to.

Some of us have made acquaintances with others and personally I know my wife would let a few know if something happened to me. Others will just go away anonymously other than a few questioning what happened to them.

And yea, 55 is way too early to go.

In 100 years it won't matter which of us died young or old. But right now, it definitely does if you're alive and people younger than you whom you knew are already dead because they are missing out on all the things you are still doing, year after year.

They might be having a better time than all of us in the Afterlife, but no one knows that with the certainty that we know they are missing out on life.

Pretty sure that if you don't take the time, and, make the effort, to figure "it" out, before you die, then you're not going to luck into "it", after you're dead, in the sense that you're no longer around to enjoy, or not, something.

Garnabby, you were a regular poster back in the day at Gamblers Glen, I suspect you interacted more with Turbogenius than I did.

From what I recall he was very talkative and sure of his method.

As for "where are they now" I wonder whatever happened to the roulette computer seller Mark Howe?

Speaking of WOV Posters who died, Paigowdan died a few years back. On another Website I sporadically visit, I noticed a Poster named Pawolf hadn't posted in a while. I posted something like," Pawolf's last visit was 10 months ago. Kind of REALLY odd of him to not visit in 10 months. A Poster responded something like,"Pawolf died 10 months ago and he didn't even tell us he died!" Dark humor, Another Poster started a Thread asking,"Where's AKA Ron? In the actual post he posted something like,"Ron hasn't visited in two months." Posters responded something like," Ron died two months ago and sadly it was most likely Suicide. His final post was VERY sad, talking about not wanting to live without his Wife who died just about three days before his final post."
Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanently banned.

We're you also a rg poster? I was rgp for the poker.. I know 4 on here from back then. Early early days. I once was at a poker party and met this woman. Totally unknown at poker and Todd and myself were amazed we had all been on planet poker. I also heard peopl3 say shed won the most at poker. I have zero clue but they were men whose opinions would know.

it's quite astonishing how many on that forum where Turbo posted believe they can beat roulette with money management and/or bet selection systems -

and roulette attracts much more attention than any other game even though the HE is so high

their systems are quite complicated - you can get a headache reading them and trying to figure out exactly what they're trying to say -

something about gamblers - not all of course, but many - and their willingness to believe the impossible - their craving for easy money is so strong it overwhelms their common sense

    anyway, r.i.p. Turbo

I wasn't much into roulette. But mostly baccarat, because of the freedom to bet on either of two sides. I was aware of his existence, but, I can't remember any conversation with him, or, even that he was at the Glen. Guys like him, and Winkle (on VLSroulette), weren't very interesting, in terms of the "novel", ie, plain wacky, (differing) situational approaches to the casino games. They were the mainstays, with their own subforums, which I visited only a few times.

Which falls in line with my approach to a theory of everything that has nothing to do with systematically building the ultimate bomb, fantasy, or anything else. Something that no one else is working on, and that I can manage on my own.

Perhaps, the reason that it took this post for my 55th is that my numerological version of #55 is diametrically opposed to Turbo's.

Does anyone know what caused Gamblers Glen to shut down? IIRC, when I first joined Gambling Forums, Posters thought I was a Poster from the now defunct Gamblers Glen, but I had never even heard of it, let alone have ever had an Account at Gamblers Glen.

The Glen ran from about 2002, to 2013. It went down about 2017. Very little went on after 2013 because Brian, the owner, died suddenly, I guess of a heart attack. After, there was no one with the administrative ability to allow password resets, and, so, a lot of posters were unable to (without their passwords). One member, as one of its two moderators, tried to restart the board at a proboards board. Lasted about six months, then went poof.

A crazy fun place, without the "dead seriousness" (to nowhere, anyway) of the AP's. Lots of calm and collected posters. A mature crowd.

You missed out on a real treat, there, Tasha.

Thanks for the insightful details on what happened to Gamblers Glen! :D I didn't start going on Gambling Websites until 2014 so there's no way I would have known about Gamblers Glen in its heyday. About the Owner having a sudden heart attack and no one having the power to do password resets, all Head Admins should have Vice Admins and Junior Vice Admins who can reset passwords if the Head Admin suddenly die. People can suddenly die for any reason like someone who suddenly died because he had an undiagnosed cancerous tumor or something like that that gave out suddenly. So Head Admins should have Vice Admins and Junior Vice Admins in case they suddenly die.

Also the admins should be careful not to gather in one place to avoid being the targets of terrorism, or even just social anxiety.

    Indeed.

Perhaps this should become a "pay board" so that Dan can afford to hire a bodyguard or two?

No telling who might be disgruntled, and without the keys to the kingdom it'd be GG all over again if he got snuffed.

But if worse comes to worse we can always write our flames, screeds and bullshit claims on the walls of casino rest rooms.

None of the stuff on the boards, these days, about how to run someone else's forum, about banning particular members, the strange polls, and the like, happened at the Glen. People were as interested in openly sharing their ideas, that none of that came up. Now it's every other post.

Being alive is the same as being dead, we are all quite nothing of significance, the end has already happened.

What a gloomy and morbid post But Mark Twain said about death, something like,"No one knew who I was for BILLIONS of years before my birth and the Universe ran just fine before my birth. After my death, the Universe will run just fine for BILLIONS of more years."

What a gloomy and morbid post
Except for the one(s) who figure(s) it out, namely, the true meaning of life, or whatever.
