Thread: Double Super Times pay - Video Poker

  1. #1
I play Super Times Pay, and Double Super Times Pay.
I was looking at the Double Super Times Pay on the wizardofodds site. It says just add 0.5% to the base return to get an accurate return.
It than gives a more accurate calculation of the formula: 1.004126984 × b + 0.000921844
I get the "+ 0.000921844" is for the 20x on a dealt royal flush.
But I don't understand the 1.004126984. What I mean by I don't understand, is that I get a different number for the calculation.

I get 1.00190476 for my calculation.
Can someone explain to me how he got 1.004126984, or double check that number with your own calculation?

We have the three cases of no multipliers, one multiplier (either on the deal or on the draw), and two multipliers (both on the deal and on the draw).
Since the multiplier has a 1 in 15 chance of occurring on the deal or on the draw we have:
The probability of not getting any multipliers is 14/15 squared or 0.871111111
The probability of getting one multiplier is [(14/15)*(1/15)]+[(1/15)*(14/15)] or 0.124444444 (getting the multiplier on the draw but not on the deal plus getting it on the deal but not on the draw)
The probability of getting two multipliers is 1/15 squared or 0.004444444 .

Since 7 coins are getting wagered for a 5 coin pay table, the return is 5/7 of the base game or (5/7)*B.
Noting that the average multiplier is 4.01 we have:
    [(5/7)*(0.871111111)]*B + [(5/7)*4.01*0.124444444)]*B + [(5/7)*2*4.01*0.004444444]*B which is 1.00412698
    of the base game.

The calculation you're referring to aims to adjust the base return rate by accounting for the additional 20x payout on a dealt royal flush. The number 1.004126984 reflects this adjustment, ensuring a more accurate estimate of the game's return rate. Your calculation might differ due to rounding or a slight variation in methodology.

As for playing, I personally enjoy Slot77 Online. It's a reliable platform with good winning odds and strong player security measures. Give it a try and see how it goes!

Boring? Not at all. It matters to people who like to analyze things.

A little off topic, but I love Double Super Times Pay from two standpoints:

    1) It's fun. I find regular VP to be boring, so this adds excitement to the game. Yes, it's tilting when you get an 8+ multiplier and it bricks badly (especially when you have big draw), but I find it way more fun to play than normal VP

    2) It adds roughly 0.5% return to the game, so it's +EV to play versus skipping it. And some casinos don't realize it, causing them to accidentally offer better games than they intend.

    Just the variance sucks.

I always look, but haven't found anything lately.

UX can have camouflaged goodness because 7/5 Bonus (usually 98.0%) returns 99.4% on UX 10-play.

Yup that's what I was playing when I hit my 64k royal in November

Well it does cost another credit per spin over regular Super Times. And if you're playing a high variance game like Tripple Double Bonus, then the swings can be stressful. But, If you can get 9-6 or even 9-7 pay tables, then it can be profitable IF you hit it quickly. And if you're playing 10 hands, you can absolutely crush with a multiplier (or two) and with a dealt hand.

The problem with these games, you HAVE to hit big hands with multipliers to even begin to start to realize the extra 0.5% edge. These games are fun, but you will lose your ass hard or hit something like a 64K royal...

Most people are going to be long broke before they hit the very very longshot payouts needed to realize those edges.

A beyond double super times pay that is easy to hit and often takes but a few clicks is the 10X Multiplier that results from most any post challenging UNKewlJ's torrential flow of illogic and lies
I tell you it’s wonderful to be here, man. I don’t give a damn who wins or loses. It’s just wonderful to be here with you people.

When playing these slots you've got to ask yourself one question:

    What, Me Worry?

    I don't really agree here.

Since the variance comes from the multiplier, which applies to ALL payouts, big and small, this isn't the same as waiting for a highly unlikely event to occur.

    I'll give an example.

Let's say there was a game called Trillionaire, where it's a normal-ish video poker game, with two twists. First, it has a random number which pops up on the screen for each hand, between 0 and 199,999,999,999. If the number ends up as 77,777,777,777, then you win a trillion credits on your 5-credit bet. You would hit this once every 200 billion hands on average, so this would add 100% return to the game (because you'd get a trillion credits for every trillion credits wagered, on average!) Then, in addition, the video poker paytable would be shitty but still return 70% of your money on average with perfect play. The EV on this machine would be HUGE -- 1.7x on every dollar wagered!

However, this would be a horrible game to play. Why? Because you'd never get in the volume to ever hit the trillion. (Let's also say that there was only one of this machine, so large teams couldn't take advantage of it!)

Double Super Times pay isn't like this. There's just a shitload of variance, to where you might run way ahead or way behind at any point.

Good point, and you get plenty of multipliers on small dealt hands also like pairs or trips which can improve and dealt straights & flushes so you can stay in the game without necessarily getting the multipliers on huge dealt hands

I've been having second thoughts about multiplier games. I've mainly been playing ultimate X. Yes I have had some big hits on it, but lately, any 4oak and two royals have had no multipliers.... where it really matters...

I've been thinking more about Super Triple Play I think it is called, the "Blue Box" game where you bet 6 credits and all the 4oak are doubled in double double bonus. In Bonus poker there is even more of a bonus for the 4oak's I believe they pay closer to 3x on the 4oak especially A's... In that game you are guaranteed a "multipled" 4oak / big hand...

Next time I go out to play I think this is the game I'm going to try. I found a single line version, the multi line versions are easier to find.

I'm sure LOL variance, but I feel like I'm not converting any of my 3oak's to 4oaks lately. Maybe 1 out of more than a hundred I lost count... and when I'm playing ultimate x, I haven't gotten a multiple on a big hand in multiple sessions, maybe a 2x or 3x at most but on small ones, nothing special...
