I recall reading "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" while camping high up in the Colorado rockies, high on codeine for a back injury: powerful times.
But not as powerful a time as when I read Camus' "The Stranger" twice: first while high on codeine for two broken ankles in college, and again while flying cross country for my mother's funeral.
"The Stranger" begins: "Mother died today...".
