Thread: Caesars is denying free drinks to Diamond Plus members if they earned it through low house edge methods (poker, sports, tier multipliers, etc)

As 7 Stars, what I do whenever I am staying at Caesars Vegas or passing through is redeem the four daily drinks for large bottles of Fiji or Evian water or Gatorade. And then I used to get 1 slice of cheese pizza at DiFara in the Caesar's food court but that place very recently closed

so nowadays I just redeem the $10. in food at Brioche or Pronto, and charge to room or pay the difference if it goes over.

In Tahoe, the 7 Stars allows redemption for just one drink at Starbucks, plus three bottled waters (they are pretty small) at any of the bars, plus $10. food at the Harvey's or Harrah's restaurants, including for a food item at Starbucks.

That just one drink at Starbucks might be the same at Caesars Vegas, but I haven't tried it to know yet.

Even while staying in house there are days when I miss out on the drink or food redemption, just don't bother with it.

Funny story from the Caesars pizza outlet from a decade ago. This was not DiFara, but the one prior to it (some internal brand name).

I wanted to buy their entire pepperoni pizza pie. The sign indicated that a whole pie was $26, and otherwise it was $6.50 per slice. Each pie was 6 slices. Obviously paying per slice was FAR more expensive if you were buying the whole pizza ($39 versus $26).

I was Seven Stars at the time.

Fortunately, there were no other customers there, and they had a full pepperoni pizza sitting out, which looked like it had recently been made. I told the woman behind the counter I wanted to purchase it for the $26.

She said back, "Sorry, I can't do that. If you want a whole pie, you need to wait 20 minutes while I make another one."

I replied, "But it says right there I can buy the whole pie for $26. So please sell it to me now. I don't have 20 minutes to wait."

She answered, "No, but the policy is I have to make you a separate one if you want to buy the whole thing. That's because it's not fair to anyone else. If you buy the whole pie sitting here, then the next person won't be able to purchase any pepperoni slices for 20 minutes."

I replied, "But there's no one else here! So there is no next person! Why can't you sell me this one?"

She wasn't budging. She said back, "Someone else could walk up at any time and want it. It's not fair to them. Now, if you want a slice, I can give it to you now, but I can't sell you the whole pizza unless you want to wait for me to make another."

I then replied, "Let me ask you a question. Let's say I was willing to buy all 6 slices individually, instead of the whole pie. Could I do that?"

"Yes, you could do that," she answered. "If it's by the slice, you can buy as many as you want."

"Aha!", I snapped back. "So this isn't about being fair to everyone who comes after me! You just said you'd sell me all 6 slices and have nothing left for anyone else, as long as I bought them individually and paid the higher price! So if I pay $39 for 6 slices, which is the whole pie, then you'll sell it right now. But if I want the whole pie for $26, then I have to wait! So this is about money, not caring about the next customer!"

She got flustered and couldn't explain it.

I then showed the Seven Stars card and said, "Since we've established I can buy the whole pie if I just pay more, and since the whole pie price is supposed to be $26, I would like you to call your manager, tell them I'm Seven Stars, and I simply want the whole pie now for the posted $26 price."

She made the call, explained my point, and I heard the manager say on the phone, "Yeah, actually makes sense to me. Let him do it."

I paid the $26 (in RCs), got my pizza, and went on my way.

You have yet to learn how to respectfully exist within & interact with service industry employees--the vast majority of whom are only trying to do their jobs the way they believe is the proper way to do them. Your constant confrontations almost always have to do with feeling slighted monetarily.

You claim to be a winning gambler. People who truly win would NEVER keep trying to force their will upon these low-level workers, while neurotically trying to celebrate some sort of meaningless "victory". They simply try once, then pay the difference and move on. Belittling them is a reflection of leading a very sour life.

    Do better.

The thing is, she was probably right.

They probably do have a policy of keeping a pizza on tap for single slice buyers (because they are much more common and they don't want to keep them waiting).

She doesn't know when the next single slice customer will show up and if she guesses wrongly she's the one at fault with management.

The loophole only exists because as a practical matter they have no way of stopping someone from just buying a slice 6 times, not as some stratagem for gouging people in this very specific circumstance.

OF COURSE she was right. That's the way all "pizza by the slice" joints work. Dan was just feeling entitled because he was 7 Stars level, which also means he probably loses amounts which force him into these weak, embarrassing situations.

Yes, especially because pizza by the slice places in casinos are very noted for their strong commitment to exceptional customer service & satisfaction.

Imagine if somebody came by within 20 minutes & had to wait for a fresh slice of newly cooked pepperoni pizza for somewhere between 0 & 20 minutes, because they could only accept a slice of pepperoni pizza & couldn’t accept a slice of say cheese pizza, all meat, combination pizza, etc. which would be available right away,

The by the slice pizza place at the casino could have their reputation irreparably damaged & suffer a serious decline in repeat business.

Especially because by the slice pizza joints at casinos are all about repeat business.

It’s not as if anyone goes to the casino, busts out, then grabs a slice on their way out only to return again several months later if at all.

Especially at Caesers properties which are known to cater more to the repeat locals markets & less so to tourists.

I don't think it was a strategy to gouge people, nor do I think she was incorrect regarding the policy. I just felt the policy was stupid, and she had a hard time understanding why it's especially stupid if you can buy out the entire pizza if you do it by the slice, but not as a whole pizza.

The whole problem here is that someone will always buy the last slice! What if there's 5/6 slices left? How many should people be able to buy? What about if there's 2 slices left? Should you be limited to 1?

There's no fair way to do this, other than making it first come, first served.

I guess there could be some policy limiting people to 2 slices if there's anyone in line behind them, but the whole thing becomes too burdensome for the employees.

Clearly I wasn't in the wrong with my request, because the manager on the phone approved what I was asking for. I didn't want any discounts, and I didn't want anything free. I just wanted to buy the whole pizza in front of me at the posted price!
