You're going to be long gone before you have to worry about this impacting you. What a goofy ass reason. At least not misled by propaganda though which makes it a perfectly respectable goofy ass reason.
Not a "goofy ass reason" at all.

Think about it: how friggin' STUPID is it to mandate a phase in to EV's when there is neither the infrastructure nor a viable plan to provide one to generate all the extra electricity needed to power millions of electric vehicles?

Electricity is finite, and there are no new power stations or dams beign built to generate it.

Green energy is a flop: we'd need nuclear power until "cold fusion" is mastered, but how can we develop nuclear power again if the government is too lame to figure out the locale of a final depository for nuclear waste?

    Bunch of clowns....

Even with the Covid mess in 2020 the S&P was up more during Trump’s term than Biden’s to date. And Biden benefited from the Covid bounce when everyone realized it was a brief blip in the economy. I’ll give you that tech did “suffer” for a short period which “hurt” you. As someone with most of my money in low cost S&P 500 funds, I don’t sweat those issues as much.

That said, I’ll take the same 50%+ results in the next 4 years under anyone. I’m not greedy.

And you think gasoline is infinite? Given the nature of solar - electricity is far closer to infinite. Tbh I'm not aware of federal
mandates. Charging stations are problematic to install for various reasons.

It is goofy because gas cars are going nowhere in your life time. Aren't you in yours 70s?

The world is likely far more grim than people realized. Back to back years of hot summers. You start to see weird shit. I'm an outdoorsman of sorts. The day after the hottest day of the summer I came across a litter of infant baby rabbits who had left their burrow. They were dead. That night I see this rabbit acting weird. It was eating them. Probably their mother. I looked it up and yea it happens like cats. Don't waste the protein. Then later I walk over there and a rattlesnake pops up. Just a weird scene but I'd bet money the mother rabbit heat stroked out thebday before. And it'll he worse.. and worse .. nature is already dying all over. Laugh. Mock..whatever. I wish I was wrong. Electric cars aren't even much of a solution but something is going to break.

The purchase of Kate Spade by Tapestry did nothing for the company and certainly didn’t hurt consumers as its prices DROPPED over time as part of a bigger company.

Are we to believe the bitter, angry, creepy Merrick Garland really cares about keeping the cost of Versace goods down for the consumer? It’s a joke ruling by a corrupt little man. But Amazon getting bigger and putting Walgreens out of the prescription business is fine. 3 months and this 4 eyed fuck is working for MSNBC.

Solid opinions. I don't know anyone who cares about Versace or capri. Still seems like democrats are more likely to go against the big tech monopolies that are literally robbing people. I've had 10s of thousands stolen from me by this shit. I wish I could explain how but I have 0 faith in Trump. If so it is only because google isn't promoting narratives in their search that are largely false.

"Under the Biden rule, 67% of new light-duty vehicles and 46% of medium-duty vehicles would be required to be electric by 2032. However, these mandates do not align with consumer demand. In 2023, according to Kelley Blue Book, electric-vehicle purchases comprised just slightly over 7% of the U.S. vehicle market."

    The people don't want EV's!

I own a lot of Ford motor stock, and it is in the cellar in large part due to having been forced to invest in the design and mfr. of EV's, EV's which remain unsold and unprofitable.

Besides, what is the point of us "being good" if the rest of the world is still "being bad?"

'Leading by example?" Gimme a break...

I wasn't aware .. but I should not be surprised I was wrong.

Regardless your car world will be fine even if that mandate is kept.

World is beyond fucked with past 2 years of heat. We stip burning things and it will be significantly worse even moreso. I see some positive news here and there .. oh well not your problem. I hope you don't have kids though.

Yes, I've procreated: why would you hope I hadn't?

I submit it is better to be alive today than to never have been born; hell, "saving the world" will be their challenge, but not mine.

No, I worked hard and plan to live life on my terms til the end, and that includes not owning an EV.

    I recycle: that's enough.

Oh because it is an unsolvable problem for the most part. The direction of it all. Just the fact that you seem to pretty much not care and possibly delight in not caring. I don't know - I would have a far different feeling if I had kids lol. Just the layers of depression. Old people with all the wealth going to sit around being pissed young people don't want to work for a hopeless future where assets are priced so far out of their reach. Society is going to change.

Sure you and I have lived in some of the best times possible to have been born. In America at that. We're very lucky. I would never say otherwise?

I'm not sure what you mean "challenge". I guess we'll probably geo-engineer something but thats a cute way to phrase it to yourself.

Ahh yes, you worked hard. You got yours. Things were cheap because they put off issues on the future generations. I sometimes forget you're actually kinda a trashy guy under it all with the weird racism stuff. These sorts of views only follow. A quite self-centered man. Possibly a little gay feelings for Kewl. Possibly not.

Recycling does near nothing and is often counter-productive. Honestly I assume you're joking/trolling but you could also just as likely be that ignorant and think that actually equates to "doing enough". (or doing something)

Lets hear what Singer has to say lol

If you want to impress us then give all your wealth to native Americans and slave descendants then take your white ass back to Europe. Otherwise STFU.
What are you even talking about? Your 200k you socked away (literally in socks in the sock drawer - TBC style) or whatever the fuck makes a good story but you're not even in the vicinity of the neighborhood where the accountants of the wealthy live. I'm not sure what you're even jibber jabbering on about to be perfectly frank.
Clean up your own backyard before you fuck with others. You are living off the fat of stolen land. Git your white ass off Comanche land. Give back the wealth you stole from the Comanches and take your sorry white ass back to Europe.

C'mon Mickey, you don't really believe that, do you?

The history of the world is based on conquest, of the strong subduing and then exploiting the weak.

    Been that way...well, basically forever.

By your logic Adam and Eve never should have left the Garden of Eden.

Funny shit there old boy...funny shit.

I have no idea what any of this means. I'm just telling you that the game is very very rigged. Young men going to keep beating themselves up over financial failure just due to the mechanics of it all. Fascist style politics will follow.

A wealth tax is what needed. Abolish income tax.

With the current structure - the upper-class will continue to use their vast sums of disposable income + compound interest to continue growing their part of the pie. What do they do with it? They buy assets that will be needed by the lower classes. This inflates home costs and everything else. Likely a huge component of inflation. It is just crazy people can't vote in their own interest.

I have no idea why on Earth you have a hard-on to defend the very wealthy. Why wealth tax vs income tax is any worse?

    Otherwise, are you ok?

If you tax the wealthy too much they might stop taking the risks which lead to their success: them where would we be?

    Socialism?

    Communism?

Capitalism has its flaws but it is the best system man has come up with yet.

Trust me buddy, there are plenty of people willing to take those risks.

To think otherwise sounds very sheeplike.

Who said get rid of capitalism. It needs to be fixed. The system needs to work and be sustainable.

lol what crazy thoughts .. like.. I can't begin.

Who are these people who have taken these risks and moved our standard of living for the better? Name one of them from past 20 years. I'm curious. Please. Jeff Bezos? Destroyer of Wal-mart? Where would we be if he hadn't taken the risk? THere could have been 100s of startups to have taken that crown.

Fuck streaming companies can't even ride out miniseries to a decent ending everyone is so short-sighted capitalistic.

I'll name two, for starters...let me know if you want more.

    Elon Musk.

    Steve Jobs.

And what risk did these men take?

Quantify the risk for us. What exactly did they risk?

edit - Not precise numbers but .. like did they bet 10 years of their life savings? Explain your thoughts a bit.

Every new endeavor involves risks: risks of loss of money, time and perhaps reputation.

When they started out they took a chance, hoping to make it big, instead of taking a "grunt job" working for a paycheck.

Capitalism rewards the one of our strongest emotions...greed.

Most people don't hit it big and most people wish they had.

But you think that if there was some form of wealth tax, these men wouldn't have still taken that "risk"?

There are probably multiple men on this forum who took bigger risks if you were to quantify it.

Your business running off someone else's money doesn't work out? You lose nothing. lol come'on dude pull your head out of your ass. The wealthy aren't magic job creators. This is trickle-down 101. aka bullshit.

I don't really see the risk here. My guess is they were always paid in their positions. I'm not sure how much Bezos invested his own money?

Most of these people are just risking the wealthy's money. It is all relative though. There is no way a wealth tax would ever be enacted where it disincentivizes those going from working class -> upper.

Anyway, like I figured.. you say nothing of interest.
