Thread: The old Western Casino on Fremont

  1. #1
Stuff has been posted over the years about this place on East Fremont with Mickey adding his memories on it. Ran into an old story on it today and decided to post this for anyone who doesn’t remember it and actually visits this site.

    https://vimeo.com/35557956

It was a pure shithole but I visited a few times over the years when it wasn’t as safe to walk in that area before Tony bought everything up and gentrified it. The old Atomic was interesting when they had to buzz you in for a drink as well. Hookers, dealers and junkies everywhere. One visit there was a guy sitting there literally dressed like Huggy Bear from Starsky & Hutch in full pimp uniform like it was the 70’s. Good memories that you don’t see in Vegas anymore.

I think Tasha would enjoy this video and at one point might even have fit in here with the low limits.

    Thanks for posting.

That was quite a good watch.

I was only going to watch for a minute or 2 to see what the place was like, but once you start watching it, it’s nearly impossible to stop.

Someone needs to track down the original wsop docu. It has a certain narrator that many of the older guys will recognize.

There probably isn't a documentary for the first one. This may be the one I recall. At least it is the narrator I was thinking of. Love the dude's voice.

I wish Redietz didn't stop posting here or he could tell us some stories.

People say these sorts of gamblers don't exist. THey still do but all the good players are just computer nerds. Guys like this are out there but nearly died off. Real guys with personality that came up outside of the screen of a computer.

One of my closer friends is a guy like this. The stories. I asked him once how many times he'd been robbed. He starts to try and count them then gets confused and annoyed and stops counting. lol. The skillset needed back then was quite a bit different.

I believe it was Micky who told me a story about Johnny Chan having a drink poured on his head by a dealer. Just utter disrespect given in return I'm guessing.

When I was younger I was fascinated by this culture. I guess I never liked rules. I'm very much against rules of society and somewhat break laws at will - only using a form of risk assessment to guide me. All these guys living outside the rule of law. Looking back though I kinda wish I'd just went down the normal route of life.

    "Nerds" is right.

I like watching poker on YouTube and TV, and there's a vast difference between the "personalities" today and back when Dwan etc. ruled the roost.

Now, watching WPT Poker Nite, it's almost a snooze fest: the players are almost all BORING.

Durr is halfway old school. He was online and afaik quite analytical. I find the grime and grit interesting but then you have a pedo like Amarillo slim and know Brunson was tight with him. It kinda fades away but just the fact everyone came up without manuals on how to do it made it far more interesting.

These days you can study solvers and if you have the iq to understand why things are the way they are then you can make it to the top. Study study study. Nothing wrong with that but the personalities that come from that background are not compelling.

Honestly I haven't a clue as to what overcame me. Was I serious or kidding? Partially both. Tbh redietz never tells stories he just alludes to them lol.

I could tell a decent little story about the other night but it would do too much to dox me. Same with lots of stories. The gambling world just isn't that big.

Not sure what that's all about....but far more important is what we saw yesterday at the inauguration.

Did anyone take note of the incredible strength an undeterred Carrie Underwood displayed as she took over the singing of her patriotic tribute when the music suffered an electronic failure?

This is what the world--and Indeed the misguided Trump-hating liberal idiots & fools in the US--need to see and understand: PEACE THRU STRENGTH, AND ABILITY THRU STRENGTH. The world watched as this absolutely beautiful and talented WOMAN plowed thru adversity on the world's biggest stage and in front of the most important people on our planet, and in the process rip a new one to all the woke morons who would've rushed to their nearest safe space instead. Everything about this lady is desirable.

And kew would prefer to lick the hairy ass of some fatass security guard? Really!??

There's a Creek Nation casino in Carrie Underwood's hometown, Checotah, Oklahoma. When I was down there Checotah was on my route. Stopped there many times. Close to Checotah is Eufala Lake, the largest man made lake in the US. It was made from damming the Arkansas River. In the screenshot you can see the lake's tenticle's stretching out everywhere:

This post just shows how big of pussies everyone has become. Same as when a Trump got an ear nick and raised his hand in victory. Amongst my friends it'd be like .. wtf else are you supposed to do? Crawl off stage after your sizeable security details gives you the clear? Lol. As if no one has been seriously injured.

She's a pro musician. That's the expectation. Show goes on. Now it is "incredible strength". Lol. This country is so fucked

I think it was fairly brave because there is little chance he knew all that was going on and was able to process it at that very moment. There could have been other shooters and yet he stuck his face out between the agents directly towards where the shooting came from.

That's the common sense version. But amongst AQ's friends....well, they're all kinda having a bit of a rough year....

Let's not forget that Trump faked an injury (claimed he had bone spurs) to avoid being drafted.

The coward admitted it, saying " ‘You think I'm stupid, I wasn't going to Vietnam.’”

    Yeah, real tough guy...

    Yeah, real tough guy...
How did he get around required military doctor’s examinations to get reclassified?

A private doctor falsely submitted the "bone spurs" diagnosis to the draft board as a favor to Fred Trump, the oaf's father and the doctor's landlord.

The rich didn't serve in the Vietnam War. They had ways around it. It was a poor man's war.
