Thread: Vegas empty for Super Bowl

  1. #1
Appears they can’t give rooms away this weekend. Probably the cheapest Saturday night of the year with rooms as low as $25 (before fees). Note these are publicly available rates, not with an players discount.

Is it the expansion of sports betting everywhere or something deeper?

I'm guessing it's because there REALLY isn't much of a fervor this year for Superbowl 2025. It's a REALLY lackluster Superbowl year, one of the lowest anticipated SB's in History.

I'm here now, leaving today. I was in the Caesars Vista Lounge at 9:30 Friday night. Barely half full. Should be packed any Friday night. The rest of Caesars was average busy. Open tables at GR Pub. Caesar's parking half full at 9:30pm.
Wife got a last minute SB viewing offer at Rio.
And, if you are a playing local, they are not offering seats for the SB parties. Only for visitors.
Ex. Local buddy with twice the play, did not get invited, but his out-of-state friend, with half got invited.
Keep your friends close, keep your drinks closer...

A few things may be in play here:

    1) Obvious KC fatigue. No novelty; no new stories, although this really shouldn't affect travel/destination much.
    2) Gambling fatigue with ubiquitous sports books everywhere damping down the desire to actually travel to an alleged gambling mecca.
    3) The SB site being New Orleans, which probably draws a lot of party folks who might consider LV a destination were the game not in New Orleans. The New Orleans/Las Vegas overlap probably draws the upper tier visitors away especially. While you might consider LV a SB vacation/destination if the game itself were in Dallas or LA, the NO actual site has its own mega-party atmosphere that a Dallas or LA would lack. So the game locale is competing with the LV locale this year.

I'm actually glad the room rates have crashed. That's a good long-term sign for LV affordability. Honestly, I don't think I've been to LV immediately prior to the SB since I won the season-long "Race to the Super Bowl" contest at Heritage and had to plan out my 25K in SB wagers. That was a lot of squinting to try to exploit that the best I could. A brutal task to try to middle props when there are literally thousands of them and they change every couple hours.

    Oh, wait, one more reason:

    4) March Madness has increasingly become a major destination/event in LV, so if people are choosing between February and March for a trip and to gamble some decent money on sports, I have to think March has more publicity and gambling momentum right now. I'd choose March every time if it were me.

Which leaves me to wonder if the March Madness room rates will match previous years or also be depressed.

Where are you getting this information from? This will be in the top three most-watched Super Bowls. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up being the number one, but doubtful, perhaps a number two spot.

And by the way, if for some reason viewership is down, I believe it's because of the performers and entertainment. Take a look at who's singing the National Anthem and who's doing the halftime show.

Projections are around 119 million, down slightly from last year but still #2 all time.

I’m not sure the entertainment has much to do with it but I’m with you that they went way overboard with the Boon Tunes this year.

And as always the retard has no clue what she is talking about.

"Boon Tunes?" LOL. That's so bad. I wonder if they slipped that into a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Personally, I think they should play the "Southern National Anthem" before every Super Bowl. Not sure which song that is exactly, but the cheer leaders wear white hoods and a guy dressed as General Nathan Forrest shoots his gun before the kickoff (Forrest founded the KKK, shot a bunch of escaping black Civil War prisoners in the back, and my street is named after him).

Personal experience. Literally NO ONE around me has said ANYTHING about Superbowl 2025, something that's NEVER happened before. Heck, Walgreens didn't even put up ANY SB signage this year, something that hasn't happened before.

So this is where you made your “educated” deduction that interest isn’t there this year, from a few imaginary friends you have on the bus and customers buying adult diapers at Walgreens.

The same Walgreens that’s cutting costs after losing 80% of its stock value in the past 3 years during a record bull market.

What is happening with Walgreens is expanding way too much. Walgreens ended up being oversaturated, so it was a thing of,"Too much of a good thing," so a LOT of Walgreens ended up closing. I'm beyond lucky that MY Walgreens is safe as it's in a VERY busy location, but a LOT of Walgreens in less busy places shut down or are going to shut down.

Also, a LOT of Walgreens closed because of rampant shoplifting/looting. Walgreens has a "Do not apprehend Shoplifters," so what happens is that Shoplifters literally stuff duffel bags and shopping carts and just steal to their hearts content while Employees and Staff can just meekly call the police and HOPE the Police get there in time and stop the shoplifters but often the Police show up like TEN minutes after the Shoplifter left with a whole bunch of stolen merchandise and is already 3 miles away. Then the store can make a report about the shoplifters and the stolen merchandise.

But I do often wonder what happens if Walgreens goes out of business for good like Woolworth's, Sears, Montgomery Ward, Kmart, Toys R Us, or Blockbusters. If Walgreens goes out of business, I'm out of a job and it's the ONLY job I have and have ever had and let's put this into perspective. I'm old enough to be a GRANDMOTHER(So, I'm not say some YOUNG Gen Z who was born in 2005 and has PLENTY of jobs available).

I have been working for Walgreens long enough that a NEWBORN born on the day I was hired is now getting ready to graduate high school! I'd be FUCKED if Walgreens goes out of business for good. I guess if Walgreens goes out of business for good, I'd get a job at Walmart which is NOT in any foreseeable financial trouble.

I'm 100% convinced it absolutely does. Millions of people tune in just for the halftime show.

I went to the 1998 Superbowl and I don't remember who the hell was in the halftime show, I just remember it was dark and terrible.

I very much remember in the early 2000's my Gf had all her friends and her friends' friends there just to see Aerosmith, Britney, and NSTINK, none of them cared about football.
Of course, I'm an Aerosmith fan(Seen them in concert 3 times), and who didn't like watching Britney's cute ass bounce around the stage with Aerosmith.

If you worked forever at the same place it would be a positive to other employers because it shows how dependable you are. No one likes having to hire and train.

Thats impressive though. Have you never considered a better job? Maybe somewhere you can get paid more ?

What kind of people would do such things? Is it mostly Mexican immigrants? Ukrainian immigrants, Asians, Native Americans?

    Mr Redeitz aout your methods,

What was your estimated EV difference middling the props vs just betting them on straight bets at 4%. Or alternatively, you esimate that on an extra time invested per hour basis?

I REALLY hate to say this, but it's MOSTLY a Minority who I have seen do MOST of the shoplifting, and it's NOT Blacks doing MOST of the shoplifting. But I have to point out, I work in a Walgreens that is predominantly this Minority.

    midgets and dwarves?

    lisping, left-handed Lakota lesbians?

    white punks on dope?

    surly Samoans?

God help us, it can't be a yeshiva full of jacked-up Jews?
