On an unrelated note, I recently watched a movie, from a decade ago, called Lay the Favorite. Bruce Willis played the part of the professional Las Vegas sports bettor. The movie is supposedly based on a true story from the perspective of the female lead character who went on to become a writer. This was her story.

We all know that liberties are often taken with "based on" stories. I am just wondering if anyone knows or has any guesses as to who the Bruce Willis character was based on?
