You need a clinic on how you the taxpayer are getting ripped off. I use a bi-pap. A medical supply store was charging $480 to replace the mask and hose. Medicare paid 80% of it and I paid 20%. But an individual can walk into any medical supply store and buy the mask and hose for about $150.

In addition to Medicare being charged an exorbitant price there is frequency of purchase. They were shipping a new mask and hose to me every three months. So medicare was paying about $1600 a year and I was paying about $400 a year.

But after extensive use of the bi-pap i determined the mask really needed to be replaced only twice a year. And the hose only once a year. I cancelled the medicare approved company and started buying directly from the local medical supply store because it costs less.

This is just one example. What I’ve learned is there is the price the individual is charged but if medicare is paying the charge is about 4 times as much. Since the individual pays medicare the 20% deductible they are paying about the same price anyway. But the company selling the product is making a windfall off medicare.

It works the same way with prescription meds.

Mickey, with all due respect, I think you and some of the other repubs are getting yourselves all worked up over Medicaid, thinking people are getting free coverage the same as the Medicare you worked for. I don't think it is. Not even close. My understanding is people on the medicaid program have to pick from a list of doctors that accept medicaid. That is generally the lower end type doctors. Clinics and small private practice doctor in poorer areas that don't speak good english. That sort of thing.

They aren't getting the same coverage and quality care you or someone on Medicare gets. Do you really want to deny poor people even the basic lower end medical coverage? Come on we are America. People on medicaid go to the exact same doctors offices i go to. Trump is trying to get able bodied men up to age 45 off medicaid. There are plenty of exemptions for those that are not physically fit. Clinton did it with food stamps. He raised the age requirement for able bodied men to 51.
