    Really obnoxious.

At every other hotel in the world, you simply ask for them to put you in connecting rooms, and if it's available, they do.

If this is an optional fee to GUARANTEE connecting rooms, it's not bad, but if you can't get connecting rooms upon request at checkin without paying $25, that's awful. I'm not sure if you can or can't, though.

There ARE quite a few hotels around the world that charge a fee of some sort at check-in for getting connecting rooms. However, it's just plain stupid to do that in LV.

I imagine MGM does this because, once again, foreigners will pay whatever a hotel charges them here. It's usually a bargain anyway, compared to what they're used to.

C'mon, Rob, we both know it's Californians who will "pay whatever a hotel charges them." Present Todd excepted, of course.

It's only a matter of time until a la carte hotel rooms in Las Vegas anyway. Who needs a bathroom if you're going to spend most of your time in the casino?

P.S. While cleaning my garage, which is kind of like the storage room at the end of Indiana Jones, I stumbled upon old records of me paying $20 for a Gold Spike room in the 80's. They provided a phone at the front desk for the room (if you wanted one). No fee, however, was involved.

I thought,"$25 extra to connect a room isn't REALLY all that bad, meh" My jaw dropped at the $100 extra for dogs however My God, they charge guests $100 extra to bring their dog(s) with them?
Take comfort in the fact that no one is actually backing up his wishes to have you permanently banned.

The hotel doesn’t have to pay to clean pee and poo off the floor with connecting rooms (in most cases) but they may have to with a dog friendly room.

Pretty much standard. Many hotels (if they aren't a dump) and all airlines charge extreme fees to those who insist on imposing their pets on others in semi confined spaces. They have to price it at a point where the dog owners are more important than regular customers to make it worth some other customers being disgruntled about it. Only pet in the world where you're forced to deal with them if you don't like them. No one is imposing their pet cat, mouse, spider, gerbil or snake on you if you don't like it.

And all they have to do to get them to pay it is make the fee less than it would be to board the dog.

Let's not forget MGM has to still pay off the Russians who fucked them like a Bangkok whore.

Yes, the dog fee is a bit excessive, but charging something for a dog is reasonable. As others have pointed out, there is extra cleaning involved.

On a side note, I know lots of people who sneak pets into non-pet rooms, because they find the pet-friendly rooms to be gross (which they are). So keep that in mind next time you stay at a hotel -- a dog may have pissed or shit where you're sleeping or standing.

Regarding the connecting room fee, I've absolutely never seen it before. It's not a bad idea to charge to reserve it, as I find it tilting sometimes when I WANT a connecting room, and the answer is something like, "Well, we can't block it off now, call the day of your stay and see what's available." So if you can put down $25 to guarantee you'll get connectors, that's worth something.

As I said, though, if they always charge $25 if you get connecting rooms upon front desk request, that's really bad. I have a feeling you can talk your way out of that charge, though, provided you're not paying it in advance.

Nothing special about hotel rooms. Not a shred of public space in existence dogs haven't shit, pissed and left fur all over. I refuse to even set foot in my own brother's house because of the dog hair from one tiny corgi.

They can used the excuse of the pet rooms being gross so they can lie to themselves about who they are, but it's because they're cheap self absorbed assholes.
