Norm is the gate keeper. Great!!!
Not to keep this going but a lot of what I do betting wise falls under the umbrella of Opposition betting. Two player that wrote and talked a lot about opposition betting were Richard Ried and Arnold Snyder. And just by circumstance, not intentionally, I didn't read any of Reid's books (I don't believe) and very little of Snyder's many books. I was much more influenced by Wong, Revere and Schlesinger and later even Norm's Modern blackjack.
So how did I come to employ some of these opposition wagering techniques if I didn't read these guys books? I communicated with people that did. One of those players was Zengrifter. I don't know your view on Zengrifter, but a lot of people don't care much for him, holding a non-blackjack issue against him, for which he went to Prison for. I don't focus on or judge on that. My communications with Zengrifter over the years and there were many back when his forum was alive, were strictly about blackjack. he had a lot of outside the box thinking about things and one of them was opposition betting. he was very big on that because he was strongly influenced by Snyder (and probably Richard Reid). So while I didn't read their opposition betting stuff directly, indirectly some of it made its way to me.
Bottom line is opposition betting in general and some of the specific things I do like multiple bet spreads, and spreading both ways, which fall under that umbrella of opposition betting, really work. And by "work" I mean buy you extra time before an evaluation. That is the what card counting is about in the 2020's. Extending your time of playing before an evaluation.
