Thread: Resorts World struggling so badly that they've stopped charging for parking

Laughably, they only made this until August 28th, because they want to see if it moves the needle regarding their bottom line, before committing to it.

They should have done this from the start. When you're off center strip, you don't dissuade people from visiting by charging them for parking.

Also known as, "When you're #2, you try harder", as popularized by AVIS in the '70s.

I always said that charging people to park in Casinos is a bad idea. People are getting charged for a chance to lose their money. REALLY bad business model.

RWorld has a lot of clubbing traffic, especially on weekends and also whenever their day club is open. These people don't gamble and perhaps there is no way for them to get their tickets validated. It is to keep that flow going perhaps that they decided on the free parking.

People who play get high enough level player cards to be able to get free parking.

For some time now the RWorld parking machines haven't been working properly with hotel room keys and at least at the entrance with player cards, but the lots are pretty full at least the first few levels. Looking around the casino it doesn't seem like they are doing that badly, not full most all the time like Wynn or Venetian/Palazzo, but not starving.

Now they've announced that they've killed resort fees until.... 9/11!

Yes, they seriously chose 9/11 as the date to put back resort fees.

Since resort fees have to now be rolled into the displayed price up front, they don't do Resorts World (or any hotel) much good anymore, aside from stiffing travel agents out of commission.

But it's interesting that they're giving this promo, which now allows you to stay there for $79+tax during many nights this summer. They must be really empty to be offering this.

Speaking of 9/11, I always thought of the coincidence that one of of not the biggest and worst attacks of Terrorism in the United States was on the same numeric date as the national emergency phone number. Also, it's ironic that 9/11 was a VERY beautiful day in New York before the Terrorist happened. I also just recently learned that a third building was going to be hit, but the Passengers had enough and refused to be statistics and grouped together and stopped the pilot from hitting the third building.

About would be Victims saving themselves, I saw a clip where a man robs a 7/11 at gunpoint. At first, the would be Victims cower in fear, but one would be Victim although he cowered, he looked PISSED and started attacking the Robber. The other would be Victims seeing the first would be Victim attacking the Robber also stopped cowering and started attacking the Robber too. The Robber was beaten to a pulp and then the would be Victims got the hell out of that 7-11. It ONLY takes one person to start a catalyst to stop a Criminal.

I didn’t hear about anyone hijacking a building either.

I didn’t even know buildings could be hijacked. Although I guess some portable buildings like a modular home could be.

Did you know there have been multiple robberies of 7/11s on July 11th?

    How crazy is that?

On that day the robbers ALWAYS get away: they come out and roll while the clerk moans "Aw, craps"...

It was not a coincidence that date was picked for a reason. A quarter century later and you still don't know that?

I was on one of the first flights after 9/11, the plane was practically empty. 9/11 was on Tuesday, I was on a flight Thursday.

Of course this retard would claim to be the first person to fly after 9/11. He probably won 80% of his tie bets during the flight.

My parents had taken a similar American Airlines flight from Boston to LA on September 9, 2001. It wasn't the exact same flight as the one that was hijacked, so it's not as close as it sounds to disaster, but still unnerving for them to think about. Theirs left later in the day, whereas these flights were all morning. This didn't deter them from flying at all, though. They've flown a ton since then.

It always baffled me why we remained cozy to the Saudis when they were the terrorists.

    Oh wait...oil...never mind.

Hmmm...I haven't been to sin city in years, and MGM no longer intrigues me: I think I'll give RW a try, probably in July.

Dan already questioned Resorts World ending the Resort fees on 9/11/2025.

Resorts World and F-Bleu, just aren't going to make it. Bad location. The strip really ends at the corner where Wynn/Venetian is. I think the cross road is Sands or Spring Mountain (Same road different names in different areas). On the west side you have TI and fashion show mall on that intersection.

North of that intersection is just nonsense....all the way to downtown. Circus Circus (should be torn down), Strat, Sahara are just minor league. I know they thought with some new big resorts like F-Bleu, Resorts World, they could turn that run down area into something more resembling the lower strip. Here is the problem. Foot Traffic. From the intersection mentioned about, south all the way to tropicana, people can and do walk. There is something every few feet, and a different casino every half block. The area north of Wynn/Venetian, you can't really walk. Well, you can but no one does. Long stretches of nothing.

With the benefit of hindsight, Resorts World and F Bleu were just a really bad idea in a bad location.

It's also the fact that Las Vegas is the literal Desert. People are hot, sweaty, tired, and parched in Las Vegas walking around the Strip due to Las Vegas being a hot desert. Maybe Fountaine Bleu and Resorts World would have faired better in a City where the weather was around a comfy 70 degrees most of the time like say San Diego in California?

It is a pleasant 81 degrees here today. Pretty damn nice for end of June. Of course that is 20 degrees cooler than the norm.

I think the problem dates back 20 years, when someone came up with the bright idea to change what Las Vegas has always been. Vegas is a gambling City. I guess they were afraid that with all the new casinos everywhere, people wouldn't come to Vegas just to gamble. Guess what, for most people that have a casino or two within an hours drive, that does NOT replace what Las Vegas is/WAS. If people want to go shopping, they don't have to come to Vegas to do so. If the younger crowd wants to go clubbing, they can do so in every major city. They ruined what Vegas was and should be.

Just out of curiosity Tasha, have you ever been to Vegas? I though I read that you haven't been more than 50 miles from home.
