Another day, another "Druff bets against shitty pitchers" pick.
We have Nestor Cortes -- he of the walkoff World Series HR. He wasn't totally healthy when he gave that up, and he isn't now. He didn't pitch well for Milwaukee before injuring himself, and was shipped to San Diego, and will be starting today. He pitched well in minor league rehab outings, but that's a long way from MLB. I am not convinced he will be an effective starter until I see him throwing well at the MLB level again.
But even if he does pitch well, we have Anthony DeSclafani. He hasn't pitched well in his only two starts this year (the other 7 appearances were in relief), and honestly he hasn't been good since the end of the 2021 season. He didn't pitch in MLB at all in 2024.
Both of these pitchers are forced into the rotation due to injuries/trades.
