Mormons are huge hypocrites. Half get drunk on a Saturday night. Half gamble in casinos. And some are closeted Homos, just like every other group. Not to mention multiple wives and adultery and all that shit. There is actually a pretty sizeable Mormon Population right here in Nevada and Las Vegas. Wonder why?
Redietz alluded to knowing the ulterior motive of the new law but left us in the dark about it. Us ignorant folk are supposed to "rub a few neurons together" to try to figure it out. My guess is the ulterior motive redietz speaks of is casino execs getting rid of professional gamblers.
But Occam's Razor says it was simply a move by an ignorant Senator Crapo to raise more tax revenue.
Actually, that is not it.
As an alternative to Occam's Razor, let me present an old Sir Arthur Conan Doyle line followed by my standard question.
"When you have eliminated the impossible (senator from Utah wields power and leverage to affect a law because nobody else read the thing, what a tricky maneuver!), then whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
With the follow-up question, "Do you think the dinosaurs really went extinct?"
I'll even give a hint here, for those who like Latin. The majority of dinosaurs were Ornithischian. Sometimes all you gotta do to see the whole picture is raise your eyes and mind and look up.
P.S. Referring to the title of this thread, as an old editor, I must report that the "affects" of the new gambling tax laws are likely anger, frustration, and some confusion. The "effects" would be something quite different. And while I write "Occam's Razor" half the time myself, academics who would be taken to task for improper spelling use the more formal spelling, "Ockham's Razor," referring I think to William of Ockham, who came up with the concept.
