I might do northern Idaho, Washington, Oregon and northern California next year.
When we drove from Las Vegas to Washington State, I drove from Las Vegas to Santa Barbara, and then we took the Pacific Coast Highway all the way to Washington instead of I-84 and I-15. I've done Washington to Redding, California, several times. One of the most beautiful drives I've been on was from Riverside, Washington to Bellingham, Washington. Diablo Lake was absolutely gorgeous.

But to tell you the truth, I'm not big on long road trips.

I take it you're using your phone to video this stuff? If so, have you ever thought about getting something like a GoPro permanently mounted?

If you get up in the Washington area, let me know.
Long road trips are great when there's no time schedule to be somewhere at a certain time. The scenery looks quite different when you're under the gun. I further appreciate these videos because I spent such a large part of my life in airplanes. And there's nowhere like USA's wide open spaces like in mickey's captivating videos, to take it all in at your own pace.

I've been thru northern Washington from east to west a few times. Very scenic area. I'll probably end up with a go pro mount. I'll give you a call if I'm in the area. I still have your number if it's current.

I assume you took Hwy 20, the oh-so-scenic North Cascades Hwy instead of the more plebian Hwy 2?
    What, Me Worry?

I’ve been on both roads. Highway 2 from Spokane to Everett and highway 20 from Kettle Falls to Okanogan then 97 down to Wenatchee.

No, I wanted to get the shots of the deciduous tree’s with the fall colors. I pass thru areas that are good and not so good so I have to film when I can traffic be damned. However, traffic is down in the fall.

I have yet to be that far NE I was past Oroville in the Okanogan area.

I took the 2 from Everett to the Okanogan area to look at some property.

The last time I was in that area I was snooping around the 12 Tribes Casinos.

These types of drives are great particularly when a lot of us spend time in the artificial environments of casinos with the noise, flashing lights, & smoke.

Always helps refresh the mind to see some nature for a change.

Yes, but NOTHING "refreshes the mind" quite like viewing some good porn after a rough day in the casino.

Me, I prefer my hills and valleys to be made out of womanly flesh...hubba hubba.

This site needs more porn and less hijacking.

So what you are saying is you can’t find enough porn elsewhere on the internet so you would like this site to have porn too?

Be careful. Too much internet porn & you’ll lose interesting in real women.

Nah...just saying porn is "refreshing" no matter where it is found.

Nah...just saying that when a man reaches "a certain age" it is the very act of viewing porn that can help jumpstart his interest in real women.

I'm speaking generally and of course my pithy observation is not based on personal experience.

Pretty much. The northwest is packed with visitors in the summer. Traffic drops off after Labor Day and the tourist season is officially over on Oct 1. That's when the chain hotels drop their rates until May 1. People that can't stand cold weather leave the area. I enjoy driving the northwest in the offseason because of the lack of traffic.

However, their are stretches that are commuter routes. Like Alpine, Wyoming to Jackson, Wyoming, about 35 miles. The wages are good in Jackson Hole but the middle class can't afford to live there. So they commute from Alpine and Victor, Idaho. They have two of the most scenic commuter routes in the country.

It's supposed to be 71 degrees where I'm at in WA on Tuesday. I don't believe it will get that high.

One of my favorite drives is Chuckanut Drive near Bellingham, and then hitting the Larrabee State Park coves, where you can find all kinds of sea creatures in the tide pools. It's kind of a white knuckle drive in an RV, though.

We just returned from a town in Wyoming called Afton, where we picked up our new Shih Tzu puppy. I believe it's not too far from Alpine. Very little traffic this time of year is right. And very peaceful.

Heading off to gamble at Chinook Winds casino on the Oregon coast: gotta avoid the beaches today, a sneaker wave sucked in and drowned someone there yesterday.

En route I travel a stretch of road from Salem to the coast that is always fun and scenic: lord, Oregon beats the pants off of the drab, flat overbuilt area I grew up in...suburban NJ.

"Beam me up to Oregon, Scotty...there's little natural beauty in the Garden State..."

Someone should do a "decode" of another nutty post from V, to see that he wins something. Ha.

BTW, another nice new avatar, Dommy. Lots of 1's, 6's, and 9's, in its name, avatar11161_19, for 1961 .
