Obvious Observations and Ramifications of the NBA Scandal(s)

First, I want to congratulate all of the VCT luminaries who have spent the last several years chiding me that "the mob" -- LOL -- has no presence in LV or gambling in general circa 2025. I want to give a standing ovation to your keen observational skills and confidence in your Holmesian eyesight and minds.

Now what has been exposed in just a small slice of life in general, so good luck with living, geniuses.

But to the obvious -- the tech and techniques used at the poker tables are obviously accretional. They could have been (and were) developed and used as individual techniques and strategies. The fact that they landed en masse at this particular set of games likely demonstrates (1) they have been used individually for eons at various games around the country and (2) they just happened to all land at this particular game because this kind of manipulation is mature, as in "has been done forever in part in various games." But these folks decided to slap it all together in a Super Adaptoid format (Marvel comics readers get that reference) because...why not be greedy and micro-manage everything? To argue that these techniques haven't been used separately for a long, long time is silly.

Similarly, the prop bet issues have been in the ether since sports betting started to be legalized. The limits vis-a-vis prop bets always kept it in line somewhat because why risk 10x salary/ads for x? But obviously, the multi-accounting and omni-presence of sports betting state to state has greased the proverbial wheels somewhat.

And heres' the thing about the prop bets -- you are not even getting the angle that matters. LOL. I can't believe it. All these stories and media coverage, and the obvious real point of it all hasn't been mentioned. Un--fucking--believable.

And yes, the VCT folk with a couple of working neurons should be able to figure out what I'm implying in 30 seconds. But -- gambling impresarios that they are -- they won't.

Meanwhile, the kewlJs of the world have existed in LV for decades and know nothing about any of this except as it pertains to blackjack, which speaks to either (A) they ain't what they say they are or (B) they are dumb as rocks and more blind than Ms. Keller or (C) both.

P.S. I'm sure Richard Munchkin was NOT blindsided by any of this, for reasons that may or may not be obvious. So for those who wonder if some folks in the gambling biz actually have their X-ray specs on and can see reality, at least 20/50, yes, some people ain't dumb as rocks.

Who here confesses to spending the last several years chiding ditz about mob non presence in gambling? I know I didn't. ditz is having fits with those spells again?

I got cheated in a poker game in 1984 so became wary of cheating. I didn't take in to full time poker until 1992 but always avoided private games. Never played in one. I played in casinos with rules, regulations and cameras. That's not to say you can't get cheated in casino poker rooms. But you do have layers of protection you don't have in private games.

From what I've seen so far most pros caught on to the Billups games not being on the up and up a few years ago. According to Matt Berkey the pros were there because of the all the fishy players. They were getting all their chips in on the flop or turn with way the best of it but being taken off by long shot draws of the "fish." Turns out, the fish were being instructed when to move in by microphone. And of course, the pros with way the best of it called. To many longshot draws hitting is a dead giveaway to an experienced player. So, anyways the pros started avoiding the games and put it in the grapevine not to play them.

Glad to see ditz has finally given some credence to the effectiveness of multi accounting.

Perhaps ditz can bolster his reputation by explaining to us the poker cheating technique called "Location." Should be a no brainer for you ditz. Or explain to us what the cheating technique called "best hand" is. A man of your caliber surely knows these techniques. Rub a few neurons together.

Deitz, could you link to where this case has anything to do with Las Vegas or "the Las Vegas Mob" that you like to reference?

There are two parts to this case. 1) is illegal poker games where NBA players participating in, lured "fish" into the game. That is where cheating with all these illegal cheating devices took place. Those games were run by the New York City are mob and held in NYC area, which is why the New York office of the FBI is the lead investigative office.

The second part involved some NBA players "fixing" games, mostly prop bets. The NBA does not play in Vegas (regularly) and there is a list of "fixed games" non of which occurred in Vegas, so there is no Vegas angle there. Most of the bets related the information passed on that players would go under on the props were places at off-shore locations, NOT in Las Vegas.

So where is this Vegas Mob angle?

These machines are VERY vulnerable to cheating. They were specifically built that way. Specifically the camera inside the machines that view every card. There is no need for that in a machine who's purpose is to shuffle. That camera means there is information that can be transmitted (cheating). Without that camera there would be no such information that could be transmitted and the machines could still shuffle, which is what they are for.
