When I was at Rincon in San Diego the other night, a player came to the card craps table and announced that he had just won $25,000 on the Fire Bet at Bally's in Vegas. He said that a shooter held the dice for an hour and half hitting all six points for the big payoff. While everyone was congratulating him including the dealers, red flags went up in my mind because I thought the maximum Fire Bet at Caesars casinos was $10.
When I got home Saturday afternoon, I called Bally's and the craps pit confirmed that their max bet was $10. At Rincon it is a $5 maximum.
The player was full of it, to be polite.
However, it is possible to find a casino with a higher maximum Fire Bet -- and I saw this happen once at Caesars shortly after Caesars Palace installed the Fire Bet (Rio was the first Caesars property to have it).
For a private group of high rollers at a reserved table, the Fire Bet maximum was raised to $25. But the table minimum bet was $500 for this group of high rollers and most of them were betting a minimum of $1,000 on place bets and come bets.
Caesars currently has a $10 maximum on the Fire Bet, with a $1 minimum-- which is the norm.
Has anyone ever seen a maximum Fire Bet of more than $10 and if so, where?
