Thread: Get free buffet if you earn 50 tier credits at Caesars Las Vegas properties

    https://www.caesars.com/las-vegas/re...RS_RESTAURANTS

Here's how it works (from what I can gather). Keep in mind that, once again, Caesars is really confusing with its language describing the rules, so I am taking my best guess:

    - Play 50 tier credits on your Total Rewards card, and you earn one free buffet pass which must be used within 48 hours.

    - You can eat at either the Spice Market Buffet at PH, Carinval Bufet at Rio, Le Village Buffet at Paris, Flavors at Harrahs, or Paradise Garden Buffet at Flamingo. This does NOT include Bacchanal at Caesars.

    - It seems that you can earn this buffet ticket at any Caesars property in Vegas, and use it at any of the 4 above.

    - It seems that there is a maximum of 1 earned per day. However, a term in their rules says "Guests may earn one buffet only per day at each property", which implies that maybe you can earn one at each Caesars property in a day! I wouldn't be surprised if this is a mistake, though.

    - You can use up to two at once. So for example, if you earn one on Wednesday and one on Thursday, you can go to the buffet on Thursday and take your wife in for free, as well.

    - You need to visit the Total Rewards center to get your buffet voucher, after earning the 50 tiers.

    - After March 31, this promotion ends.

This isn't a bad deal. 50 tiers is just $500 coin-in of video poker, and $250 in slots. Even at a 98% return video poker machine, you would lose an average of just $10 in when earning 50 tiers (admittedly with some variance).

That was a decent explanation until the final statement. It's the same as saying "if the machine is 102% you'll not only win $10----you'll get the free buffet also!

If you're playing for a buffet you're playing for a buffet (which is something I would never do BTW). Injecting theoretical statements into it is of no value. Playing $500 in vp will either yield a lucky session or an unlucky session, with game EV making virtually no difference one way or the other.

Had I been the author of this piece I would have said not only that--I'd have reminded any interested parties that CET is only doing this promo to rope in as many fish as possible. They're fully aware how 99% of all gamblers have zero ability to play thru a minimum amount for a "freebie" and many can be expected to make multiple trips to the ATM's with their colorful collection of cards.

Simple, straight, and to the point.

    Hi Dan:

You are right about this offer. The one clarification I would make is that the Rio buffet does not include the Seafood buffet upgrade which costs $25 more if you have this buffet promo. When you pay for Seafood buffet, you get your hand stamped which is then checked by a vigilant attendant with some ultraviolet light by the entrance to the seafood selection. By the way, the Stone crab claws is a rare and excellent choice at the seafood buffet. By contrast you have to pay $42 for seven Stone Crab claws at Siegels 1941 restaurant at El Cortez.

Here is an image of the promo kiosk where you make your choices. You need not visit the Total Rewards desk, just play 50 points then saddle up to the kiosk. Don't forget to take your print out.

I have to agree with Rob here. Even if you believe in EV and the long term etc., the small amount of play required to get this buffet will is not enough play to approach EV with any certainty. Such play is more likely to yield a random result pretty much based upon LUCK.

I am not saying that this isn't the common way to evaluate these types of deals, but the reality is that the play is insufficient. If you were going to play slots or VP anyway, then by all means take advantage of the deal.

Are any of these buffets any good? I've only tried the Bacchanal buffet at CET. I can't see going down to Rio just for a free meal but the other ones would be do able.

I liked the Spice Market at Planet Hollywood. It is no Bacchanal but pretty good. Harrah's Flavors buffet was standard and not special. I have not been to the others on the strip. BTW, if you want to get the most money's worth, safe the buffet promo for dinner time.

Someone told me that playing poker at Vegas CET properties will earn you somewhere between 17 and 34 tier credits per hour (and also 100 RCs per hour).

So that's also something to keep in mind, if you play in the poker room.

For free, its fine. Would I pay for them? No. Would I go out of my way to earn 50 tiers for them? Also no.

But they're good enough to visit if you qualify anyway.

They do not compare to Bacchanal.

FAB, thanks for the clarification about the Rio buffet.

Do you know the answer regarding the "one per day" thing? Can you really earn one at each property you play during the same day?

    Hi Dan:

I do not know for sure, It was not a question I asked. But I doubt that you can earn more than one buffet at any property per day.

Thank you. I think I will try to get to the Spice Market one. If I'm playing I'm getting 50 TCs anyway.

Common sense and the obvious will never plug the hole in the head created by sweaty palms & anxiety.....

If you're going to activate your card or something at a particular property, playing through at Planet Hollywood for the Spice Market makes some sense. I wouldn't play more than that, though.

I agree. I don't think it makes any sense to play only to get this. I suspect though that this promotion may be popular. I'll be in no position to judge because even if I end up taking advantage of it I have no point of reference, as while I've been to Planet Hollywood I have no recollection of having ever seen the buffet. One of the locals I pass on my travels did a similar promotion for their atrocious (in my opinion) buffet and the line to get in was all over the casino.

Other than CP's bacchanal, I think the Planet Hollywood buffet would be considered the best of the CET buffets.

I would like to modify my statement. I found this additional photo of the CET kiosk regarding the buffet promo. To me it implies that it is one buffet earned per day.

Playing poker? In the poker room? You earn ONE DOLLAR per hour in Reward Credits. What's one dollar equal to in RCs?

Right Mr. Mendelson, you earn 100 RCs per hour playing poker in Vegas, same as playing $1,000 coin-in in video poker or $500 coin-in in slots.

You earn only 17 tier credits though (if you play video poker, when you earn 100 RCs, you also earn 100 TCs, when no multipliers are involved).

In Atlantic City, players earn 150 RCs and 26 TCs playing $1/2 No Limit and 200 RCs and 34 TCs playing $2/5 No Limit.

Nerakil, thanks, I did not know this and I would not have guessed. This surprises me. So, basically, playing four hours of 1/2 NL is equivalent to putting 4K through in vp. That would seem a reasonable way to spend an afternoon if breaking in a card to get on the CET radar.

Does this surprise anyone else, or am I so out of touch with CET ratios that this seems in line with other ways of earning?

One more clarification...although you have 48 hrs to use the free voucher, you must get it the same day you earned the tier credits, whether from a kiosk or TR center.

What are you earning playing poker? $4 a day in comps? Where on the CET radar are you going to be doing that?
