I don't know how many times I have to say it: I don't dislike APs. Now back to the issue here: this event has scarred Vegas. While I was kept in a bar for my safety following the attack, the aftermath has hurt Vegas dramatically. A manager at Caesars told me that on Monday they had only one third of their usual gaming action. Road traffic was sharply reduced on local roads and freeways. MGM may be forced to postpone the new ad campaign that they're about to roll out. The standby campaign of what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas may never see daylight again.
While I wasn't at Caesars Sunday night there was a false alarm about a gunman in the building. Literally within seconds of the alarm the banks on the tables were locked down and the ENTIRE casino staff ran to a pre-arranged evacuation point near the Palace Casino and the swimming pools. This shutdown lasted about 90 minutes I was told.
Now how many conventions do you think will be rescheduled over the next six months?
Is it any wonder now that every press conference will include statements that the city is safe?
