I'm sure you all read where a certain med for Sling's granddaughter costs 1K a pill. Since my heart attack and my introduction to meds--I currently take 6 different meds per day--I'm now getting on top of the issue of the cost of prescription drugs and how Americans are being gouged by big pharma. Sling's daughter is a case in point. That 1K pill here probably costs about $130 in the UK and Canada.
My meds cost about $700 a month. It's mainly because of one pill, Eliquis. It's a blood thinner. Because of my heart attack and the resulting condition I'm at greater risk of having a stroke. That's where a blood clot forms and heads to the brain. So the Eliquis is the most important med I take. My blood has to stay thinned out in order to lower the chance of a stroke. A 30-day supply of Eliquis costs $546 at my local Wal-Mart. In the UK that same 30 day supply costs $70. Americans are being gouged by big pharma.
I don't know if any of you have noticed the new TV commercials by Trump where he is trying to drum up support to take on big pharma and get drug prices lowered. This is an issue I'm glad to see him take up. I know many of you don't like Trump but this is an issue you need to get behind him on. Right now I think to many in Congress are afraid of big pharma and their money so are avoiding the issue.
Everyone should contact your congressional leaders and senators and tell them you want lower drug prices.
Thanks for listening.
