C'mon, guys. The media blaming by Dr. Drew was strange? Hey, how strange is this? EU officials have accused the Russians of covertly sowing coronavirus panic through the media in an attempt to subvert the EU healthcare systems. Make Europeans not believe in them. Do you think the rooskies might be doing it here too? That''s just for starters. Google around. You'll see plenty of experts have the same opinion as Dr. Drew.
Russians use SOCIAL media. We're talking about media as in "the press". Not random barely read websites. Russians use RT and zerohedge and I'm sure others but thats far from the press.

This is a perfect example of why Dr Drew's approach works at becoming relevant again. I ask critical question "what is the media saying" and you just want to believe somehow it is the evil media so you don't even care what they're saying. Dr Drew reinforces what you wish to believe and thats it. And you walk away from whatever he says trusting this guy. His goal has worked.

I'm still wondering what the media is saying to cause the panics. The panic is just a natural response. Not a useful one, but I don't think anyone has told the population things to have caused pani. People are just scared. It isn't the media's fault for telling them the truth and no media has been suggesting anything worse than reality from all that I've seen. I don't think this Fausti guy's suggestions are much if any different from those from media outlets.
Well, my first thought is Russians won the election for Trump using barely read websites? Steyer spent 150 million and couldnt get even one delegate. Bloomberg spent 500 million and came in at the back of the pack. But the rooskies? Damn, they got to be the universe's greatest political operatives. Did it using barely read websites. Now don't that beat all?

    Duh Russia Hoax.

All things considered I think Trump is doing an outstanding job. Trump uses rhetoric to keep the people calm and the left says he's underestimating the virus. The very first case in U.S. was Jan 21. Ten days later Trump banned flights from China. Left says he is a racist, zenophobe for doing it. If he hadn't put on the travel ban they would have said he was harming Americans. Just this one move saved thousands of American lives.

Trump was leading on the coronavirus long before the breakout. He's cut more red tape at the FDA than any President is history. Experts are saying its had a big effect on working towards a cure.

That's just a couple things off the top of my head.

If that was your first thought, then maybe you should have read my first sentence. Thats why I put SOCIAL as in SOCIAL media in all caps.

Yes, Russians are likely this world's greatest political operatives. They've been so for decades. Everyone in the KGB is involved. Russia was always poor so they had to rely on "active measures". You should read about the history of the KGB and active measures. Now they can make a million bots and put them on FB or Twitter and have them echo some weird message someone wants to hear. <shrug>

BTW, I've never been under the impression the Russians won the election for Trump, but yes they definitely are meddling in it as much as they can. No one will ever know if they changed outcomes. Not particularly likely IMO.

It is my personal theory/opinion that they are likely trying to split the Democratic party between BernieBros and the rest.

That's just a couple things off the top of my head.

The problem with "rhetoric to keep the people calm" is that the consequences of that have probably been a huge negative, because it means more public contact, more going out, more disease spread. It kept the supply chains intact for maybe a week -- that's the positive accomplishment. But that doesn't make up for people thinking this was not a big deal. As of four days ago, only 40% of Republicans thought it was a big deal. The president's rhetoric had a lot to do with that.

And now it's March 19, and people aren't calm anymore. So what was the point of mischaracterizing reality in the service of "keeping people calm?"

It bought the supply chains a week, and cost a week in more disease spread than necessary. It bought the stock market a few days, but the 1% crowd isn't stupid and has an international perspective on this, so the stock market was going to crash. If I were a cynic, I'd suggest that "keeping people calm" when they should not have been calm bought folks in the know some days to get out of the market.

The thing about criticism is it's easy to do. The President is doing an outstanding job in my eyes. Leadership is a tough spot. No matter what you do you are going to be criticized. What about Joe biden's idea that the travel ban from China was racist and he wouldn't have done it. So Joe wouldn't have done it if he were President? How widespread would the virus be now? How many thousands of lives would that have cost?

Of course Trump has done a fabulous job with this. Even Ilhan Omar praised him for his extraordinary efforts today. But redietz?....his bar is much higher, as he inimitably loves to try and keep showing others, with his subtle undertones of advertising while not really advertising.

There is no other person alive today that the country could have had in charge of this thing, who could have instilled more trust and confidence through his actions than the guy who's been doing it. If there's one thing more important than any individual's livelihood, it's their safety in a time of crisis. Even if the market doesn't bounce back Trump will easily win anyway. People will NEVER forget the amazing way he showed his leadership through all this.

I am not a Donald Trump Fan....anything but. But I think this week may be his best week as President. He has for the most part acted presidential. I think he has listened to the experts and understands how serious this is. And I think he is sincerely doing the best he can in a difficult situation. Time will tell if the response will be enough.

One thing I am a little disappointed on is his reluctance to order plants like GM to start making ventilators. He has the power to do that under the war powers act, which he invoked last night, but today he said he is holding off on that, despite that it looks like within 45 days we will be 100,00 short of needed ventilators. For comparison, Britain is having it's Rolls Royce plant starting to make ventilators beginning today. Since some of the car companies are shutting down anyway, Trump should order GM and others to make ventilators for the next 6 weeks. I think he will get there, but is dragging his feet just a bit.

Andrew Cuomo of New York and Gavin Newsom of California have both commended Trump for what he has done for both those states. And these are the two bluest states in the Union.

I read something yesterday about 70% of the ventrilators we have are already being used for other diseases.

People are realizing they have no choice but to praise and thank Donald Trump for his exceptional leadership efforts being put forth daily, unless they want to sound as delusional as Debra Messing, Rob Reiner, and Bette Midler, etc. They all understand that there is no other credible way to go with this.
