Thread: Top of Binion's

    http://www.binions.com/pdf/dining/steak_house_menu.pdf

I have seen many negative posts about this steakhouse across the gambling forums.
I admit it is not what it once was 20+ years ago.
However, I eat here on a regular basis.
Not as regular as a few years ago when they revamped the menu/kitchen and they had a comp/free play glitch.
Nonetheless I still eat here once a month or once every two months.

I took the family out for a birthday dinner.
I like to eat early and the sun wasn't a problem at this time of year like in the summer.
The view is always worth taking the time to have dinner at the Top.
They changed the menu once again not too long ago.
They took the live lobster tank out of the front area where you could choose your lobster.
I always figured that is a lie no matter what restaurant.
When Billy Bobs was really good at Sams Town my wife used to fall for that scam.
Billy Bobs was really good for a long while and all of a sudden one day it went downhill really fast and eventually changed names.

Anyways, Top of Binion's is very similar to Hugo's Cellar now.
You have an amazing view vs the ambiance over at Hugo's.
I enjoy them both but would put Hugo's ahead.

I ordered the lamb chops and they were perfect.
I made the mistake of ordering asparagus.
My server should of told me that all the dinners come with green beans.
The green beans were perfect. A little snap to them but perfectly cooked and seasoned.
I had the garlic mash but any choice is fine. They have couscous and it is really good if you like that!

My wife had the Prime Rib and I made her get the King Cut.
Oh man just perfect and she did have the couscous with it which tasted really good.
The Uncle got his usual Porterhouse and loved it.
Of course that guy is happy with any slop you serve him.
Loaded Baked Potato for him as always.

The soups aren't as good as they used to be but more than edible.
Onion for my Uncle and Lobster Bisque for the wife.
I had the Spinach Salad which is enough for 2-3 people.

These greedy bastards charge for soda refills now lol.
That is just ugly and like Hugo's if you order a coke it comes in a small can.
Would you like that in the Can... No I'll have it right here. - Clark Griswold - (European Vacation)

If you want free refills I advise the Iced Tea... I am pretty sure those are free but not 100% sure!

Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer and I seen no problems with them whatsoever.

We skipped desert this time but those are always worth it.
Usually I get a double espresso but skipped that as well but do recommend that after any dinner if you have time.

The bill came to 230 comped dollars.
5 dollars to the hostess who sat us and 30 dollars to the server for gratuity.
A little high as I wasn't as happy with the service this time but I never have a problem giving cash to my fellow man who works in the trenches.

Nice to see some actual useful Vegas info on here. In all my Vegas years, I’ve never been there as I also heard it was a shell of its past glory. I will have to reconsider based on your review.

I will say, seems like a shitty tip at 13% but that’s my opinion coming from the industry.

Don't worry he showered the homeless with $20's on the way home.

I haven't been up there in well over a year myself and this is making me want to check it out again. Last time I was there it would have been better to hit up a Golden Corral. I swore it off for good. I wonder what motivated the improvement because the casino is still a wreck and a shadow of it's former self.

I have never been there as well. I think I will place that on my to do list based on my good friend Monet's recommendation.

Many factors go into it for me.
I have over tipped this city enough for you and me and then some!
Sometimes bad service gets the short end of the stick from me.
I hardly ever stiff but have done so a few times in the last 25 years.
The server wasn't very interested in our table and didn't really take care of me.
I was just another number basically.
35 dollars total on 230 isn't bad from my point of view considering.
I am big on busing my own table if you know what that means and I have a habit of over tipping.
Some of that bill is padded by 21 dollars worth of soda that you get no refills from... that is pure evil from my side of it.
I can go down to the Casino and bring up a six pack of Heineken for 6 dollars.
I get your disdain though and we aren't exactly buddy, buddy so I get it.

Even though this tip may have been somewhat poor, it was more than deserved.
I for one have never been frugal or cheap with my money in general.
I am not what might be considered tight.

Usually Maxpen is right that I would of given some homeless person some cash but this was not one of those days.
I still do that a lot though.
    Gotta support those guys IMO.

The Steak House over at Binion's has been fine for a few years now since the Revamp.
They Revamped the menu for a second time about a year or so ago.
There was a time there when it was really bad but they fixed that leak at least 2 years ago.

I also know for a fact they are remodeling all the rooms and will be opening the Hotel once again if they haven't already.
They are trying to drum up some business with the whole haunted hotel thing since zombies and vampires is still all the craze these days.

If you have a Las Vegas Advisor coupon book you can get 25% off your bill at Binion's steakhouse. This includes alcohol as well as those non-free refill soft drinks. The coupon makes the place a good value. I ate there last year. I thought the view was great but I was sorry that the glass elevator to Top of Binions was under renovation (as always).

The food was good but not outstanding. I had asked for my steak to be seared on the outside but it was just cooked without a particular searing. I was glad I had reservations as it was crowded on a Saturday night.

I used my comp dollars, but those days there was the Binions "Motherlode" promotion so I was motivated to play and earn comps -- not true anymore.

Here are some things that cause Cancer that we all use everyday!
Keep using that Soap and Shampoo and Toothpaste with Fluoride.
Heck, it doesn't even matter if you get the one without Fluoride... it still causes Cancer.

80% of Drinking Water is Cancer Causing... let that sink in!
The other 20% is in Plastic Containers... ha ha I made that one up but it is funny
The 80% statistic is the Truth though! Scary!

    Monsanto Corporation... Nuff Said!

    Stop trying to live forever.
    You ain't gonna make it.
If you want to get to 102 you better have Kirk Douglas Money and have Family that loves you or you will be at the assisted living facility.
While the Vultures fight over whatever you have in your Estate.

    1. Bisphenol A (BPA)

You’ve probably heard talk of the dangers of BPA before — it’s a chemical used in the plastic lining of food and beverage containers and it’s been linked to a slew of cancers. Though a few major companies are phasing BPA out of their packaging, it’s still in plastics marked “PC” and “recycling #7.” Avoid these, and opt for fresh foods over canned ones whenever possible.

    2. Atrazine

Atrazine is of the most widely used herbicides in the US and a study by the NRDC found that it has made its way into more than 80% of our drinking water. Filter your tap water to avoid this endocrine disruptor and potential carcinogen.

    3. Organophosphate Pesticides

Major food corporations like Monsanto use organophosphates to destroy the nervous system of pests, but they’re not so great for humans either. Buy organic to avoid produce that could be contaminated with residue from the pesticide.

    4. Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP)

DBP is linked to cancer and infertility and it’s been banned in most personal care products like nail polishes and perfumes. You can still find it in some flexible plastics like shower curtains and raincoats, so it’s a good idea to look for natural alternatives to soft plastics.

    5. Lead

Lead harms almost every system in the body, so be careful when removing that stubborn old paint from walls, as it could hold traces of the dangerous chemical.

    6. Mercury

Mercury exposure is super dangerous during pregnancy, but it’s important for everyone to keep their levels in check. Monitor your intake of large fish like tuna and swordfish — they’re the ones that usually have the highest mercury buildup in their system.

    7. PFCs

PFCs are used in grease and stain-repellent coatings. The EWG recommends avoiding pre-treated carpets and furniture that have been treated with repellents.

    8. Phthalates

Phthalates are often added to perfumes to help them cling to the skin longer, but they’re really not something you want on your body. They’ve been shown to screw up hormone levels and disrupt brain function. Avoid products that have the word “fragrance” on the ingredient list — this is usually code for phthalates, which don’t have to be explicitly labeled.

    9. Diethlyhexyl Phthalate (DEHP)

DEHPs are the most commonly used class of phthalates, and the same rules of avoidance apply for them.

    10. PBDEs

This type of fire retardant was used to treat upholstered furniture, mattresses and pillows until it was pulled from the market for high toxicity levels. Invest in some new furniture and consider getting rid of those vintage pieces manufactured before 2005.

    11. Triclosan

Triclosan has been linked to cancer and heart disease, but it’s still an ingredient in many antibacterial products. Soap alternatives like essential oils and DIY cleansers offer a safer approach to cleaning.

    12. Nonylphenol

Nonylphenols are everywhere — from laundry and dish detergents to paints and personal care products. Follow the EWG’s Healthy Cleaning Guide to learn how to nix them from your everyday routine.

Jesus Fucking Christ, Monet. You either take things way too personal or have too much time on your hands.

Like it or not jbjb is a good dude.

And it seems most appreciated your review.

    Too much time for sure.
Copy and Paste takes about 5 minutes to adjust two posts.
I hate you too so no worries.

    Huge thumbs up.

For both hating me (I’ll live) and still for the review. And you are definitely way too paranoid. Weed smoker? ZK disciple?

Good review! I pretty much agree. The wine selection at Hugo's is much better and everybody seems to like the table side salad preparation at Hugo's (but why aren't there any olives?).

I think the steaks are a little better at Top of Binion's.

  17. #17
I agree with monet because he was spot on with his comments about Sam's Town's Billy Bob's, where I've taken at least a hundred grand profit from.

Is jbjb that good a "dude"? If he smokes pot, he's one big loser. He certainly doesn't know a thing about free play, and he's clueless when it comes to doing anything but bloviating about theoretical gambling from his armchair. IE....he's a dumbass.

  18. #18
No, don't smoke anything. Smoking is for turds.

No, you haven't taken anything from that place.

P.S. the only thing you smoke is your wifes bologna pony. If you don't know what that is, I recommend watching some Andrew Dice Clay. Wise the fuck up assclown!!
