If you think this is a good deal by Laughlin standards it's not. The Pioneer is rated as the worst hotel in all of Laughlin, and if this dump can't at least comp a couple of free nights like all the other places do, it isn't saying much for the place.

All the places I have played rated in Laughlin have offered me free rooms. The Riverside has offered me free flight and room packages. All the places except for the Riverside, I didn't give any machine play, just blackjack. I have stayed at Aquarius and Golden Nugget on totally free room comps and had free room offers from Tropicana and Harrahs with only blackjack play. Speaking of Harrahs, just recently I received an offer for two night Sun-Thur free stay along with a dinning credit for Laughlin. I haven't played at Harrahs in Lauglin in over 3 years and then it was only for a couple of hours of blackjack.

Machine play should earn much better comps than blackjack. I'm kind of curious what other comp offers you received?
The Pioneer offer is not based on machine play. You don't have to play other than run the freeplay off. Anyone off the street can use it. Harrah's, Golden Nugget and Tropicana don't have any video poker worth playing to get free rooms. You're better off paying for them. But December is coming up which is the slowest month in Laughlin. Most places practically give the rooms away. The Pioneer offer is open to everyone.

So far the Riverside is the only place that's sent me anything and it's not much, $20 freeplay for December. And I ran a 20K wager. I guess they think that will get me to bite. They sent me their King of Clubs Newsletter. They want me to "Go Green." That is, receive all the offers by email. But when I click on the link it won't open.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

I don't think the Riverside ever sent me anything in the mail. Their offers were all by phone or I called them. The Riverside gives good comps for meals. I usually earn enough playing there to cover my meals there.

I think some of the other casinos send out offers quarterly. I know Aquarius is still sending me room offers, but I tossed them all. You will probably get something from them in the mail. I found it difficult to earn any comps toward a meal there.

How ironic that the first piece of mail I get from Laughlin is from CET. They sent me another free 4-day flight/hotel package from Montana to Laughlin in January. I'm laughing because I ran just an $800 wager with them on the initial trip. That's an average of $200 a day. I guess it might take awhile for their computer to catch up with it. Anyways, I don't think I'll be using it.

Yesterday I got an automated call from Riverside/Laughlin offering a free 3-day flight hotel package in January. They use the same airline as Harrah's/Laughlin, Sun Country. Since I now know they will fly me in for free I went to their website and looked at all the towns they fly from. I might be able to work it where I don't necessarily have to fly from Montana but can fly from any of the towns when I feel like it. They cover the west, midwest, and southwest so I might be able to just check the schedules of each town then give them a call and book it. I would just leave my car at the airport until I get back.

I remember I ran a 20K wager. Midwest Player do you know how much wager you have to run to keep the free flight/hotel packages coming?

Golden Nugget has sent me three 2-day packages for January, February and March. They had one vulturable that I played and might have put in a $200 wager. LOL!

I have now turned down three comped trips to Laughlin in a row. The last time I was there was in the first half of 2017. Usually they wait and see if the plane fills up with paying customers, but usually at some point the robo calls will start offering a free trip for yourself and a guest. I have already called them and asked if I could fly from and out of state city for free and they said yes, but I have never done it.

I just received the same offer a few days ago. I only played blackjack there, and then very little. Aquarius also is sending me free stuff saying they miss me.

A couple of days ago, I received my Jan thru Mar 2019 comp offers from Aquarius in Laughlin. I get 2 free nights and my first $30 blackjack bet on the house. Don't remember how often it was for as I already tossed it. I haven't been to Laughlin since 2017. Maybe I will get there this year.

    Hi Mickey,

I know this is an old thread, but I had a few questions and I think some folks may like a 2022 update in Laughlin.

I had a big loss at the riverside and they are sending me $160/month free play plus other offers. I think Riverside may base offers off of actual loss if you ran 30k in action and got $20 FP. They think I lost $1400. Cardpulling before bonus rounds works there. I actually lost around $800, most of it was 600 loss on a machine where I didn't read the small fine print and 400 at craps in 15 mins where I didn't win one bet. I made some back in the very few good games they have. Very few vulturables though, hence the craps.

Edgewater sends me $120/month + $30 in food. I found a good camp play among others and ran 13k inaction over a few days, according to the win loss statement. Card pulling works here too, because I actually made over 1k between aquarius and edgewater, but they had me down for a $70 win. Just pull your card before every bonus round or when a big payout is coming.

There are quite a bit more vulture machines than your account, but that probably runs true for all jurisdictions these days. You do however need a car and have to sweep through every casino.

    A couple questions-

    1. Do you think Riverside maybe had you a bad offer list from your long history there? $20 in freeplay with 30k in action over a couple days? What a slap in the face.

    2. How important are local IDs/addresses to offers here and other jurisdictions, in your experience?

    3. Was what you had written the extent of the offers you ended up receiving? Did they increase when you ignored them or get worse?

    4. How is vulturing now compared to the piggy bankin days? Is the lack of good VP offset by the games out these days?

Definitely true, there is nothing for good VP in Laughlin. The $1 NSUD is literally the best game in town, and it's a losing play. I will have to check for that progressive bank at the Pioneer when I am there next month. That sounds like it could be a play.

As an aside, what is up with this Rob Singer guy? I've never heard him say anything that sounded reasonable or logical about gambling and he seems to be very disrespectful. Plus, regarding the $2 FPDW game, doesn't he play some crazy strategy where he breaks a ton of paying hands to chase the royal/dueces? Sounds like he would negate any edge he could have on the game with his approach to VP. So on THIS game he would play a computer based strategy? Just an observation.

I had completely forgotten about this thread. I've continued to get occasional freeplay/room offers from Laughlin, Edgewater, Aquarius, Tropicana. Not planning to go back so threw them away.

I don't think I was on a no mail list from Riverside.

20 years ago I had out of state ID but local address in Laughlin. The Riverside has a post office. Every place but Edgewater, Belle, Harrah's sent me good mail offers.
When I moved my address to Reno the Edgewater/Belle started sending me mail. But that old information.

In 2018 Laughlin was not a good spot for slot AP compared to other places in the country.

Thank you for the reply. I've been averaging a pretty good hourly with my trips to Laughlin, but it is a lot of walking in and out of all the casinos to find enough plays, which kind of sucks. According to your 2018 report, I would say there are a lot more vulture games there at present.

I also think I just like looking at the river too haha. I really like it there.

Btw, back in the day, did you ever use your comp points to rent jet skis? That's a good time.

I was curious as to how things are in general around the country these days in terms of vultures vs the piggy bankin/cherry pie days? Sounds like there was a Lull between 2007 and 2018 and now it's back full force. Is that what you have seen?

One thing I have noticed is that I think the days of getting on the top tier of a slot club and staying there for a year no matter the future play are over, from what I have seen. Seems slot clubs are a lot more reactionary these days and scale back offers quick if you don't play to their desired level. Have you noticed this?

Never did the jet ski thing. The slot AP actually started coming back in 2015. It's better today than it ever was.

I don't go out of my way to work slot clubs. I don't want the scrutiny. If they make it easy I'll take it. If they complicate it fuck 'em. I don't waste time on thin edge to get comp. The money is in the big edge plays where you have to watch the information you give the casino with the slot card. Theres stuff I won't stick my card in.

I can update this a little.

In 2019, a rebranded slot club was implemented at Aquarius and the other Golden Entertainment properties. Same year, Golden acquired Edgewater and Colorado Belle, permanently (?) shuttering the latter in 2020.

The True Rewards club offered a daily multiplier spin usually good for 4 or 5x at the top ("Epic") tier. By 2020, the spin was reformatted with a reduced multiplier applicable to vp. Typical spin result for Epic was now 4x slots, 3x vp. Later in 2020, the spin was eliminated.

For the last year or so, Aquarius and Edgewater have designated 10x/5x Epic multiplier promo days, lower for the lesser tiers. Or lesser for the lower tiers.

Recently, Aquarius has downgraded severely. Nearly all 9/6 Jacks is gone except for the non-smoking area along the river. The 100% 25c bank was slashed to 98% or less. For 25c single line, it's hard to find anything above 98%. Multi line machines have not been mass downgraded, yet.

Pioneer still has all the games mentioned earlier. Nothing changes there, that I've noticed.

Harrah's vp is woeful. Within the Caesars group, I think Tropicana is the somewhat better option for vp.

Avi is nearly 25 minutes south of Harrah's by car. My last visit was maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Avi had a good selection of bad vp.

As for advantage slot availability, from what I recall I would say Laughlin was below average in 2018. Laughlin had mostly older machines than Vegas.

My sense is that potentially interesting slots are significantly more commonplace today, but I'm barely qualified to comment because I don't specialize in that occupation.
