Thread: Is Vegas the Asphalt Jungle?

  1. #1
The Asphalt Jungle-one of the greatest heist movies ever made.
Are there gangs in Vegas trying to wrest control of the money (in- play) inside the casinos?
Are they ever successful? Sometimes they are.

The Card-Counting BlackJack Players Gang is always a threat. I admire these guys. They work in secrecy, tracking the count, grab the advantage, get their bets down then off with the cash. There are pitfalls and failures but still, it's a good racket when it works. Too bad BJ is not my game.

Guys such as mickeycrimm seem to work to exploit certain situations in slots. Maybe. Years of being around just might give someone the ability to take instant advantage when things go favorable for the player. Strike quick and move on. Gotta watch a guy with moves like Mickey. We used to call a guy like this a "figuring sam". But his play is not for me.

The Perfect Play Gang? The Bob Dancer crowd? I'm not down with these guys. No hard feelings. I just don't see it or feel it. I gave them some years, never got any traction. JOB vp lacks the extra punch it needs to get you straight. My conclusion, longterm advantage VP play is a myth.

Is Rob Singer the new top outlaw? I think so. People should heed his words. He's got the sensible, common sense voice today in VP. How important discipline is. Lucks part in the game. Use of a lower win goal and how important it is to lock it up when it happens. There's more. The bets need to move. There is no longterm. Every day is an independent battle in the present. Smart. Just my take.

YouTube is full of these guys.Neilly 777 is the only one that makes sense to me. Why? Well, he divides his bankroll ($100, sometimes $200) and divides it into $20 ($50) increments and quits whenever he either !oses the $20 or wins $5 or more over the $20 investment. Heck-he even carries a bank to stash the profits in- the key being left at home WITH his credit card. He even videos his losing sessions- imagine that!! Of. Course he often plays penny machine but oft succumbs to larger denoms- but still with a win/loss goal. Of course several posters here made fun of and critiqued his play- but I tried it when my wife and I played and we had a full day that she enjoyed.

Pete (Welcome to the Forum), what's your stance on people who stiff landlords and others who have provided goods and services to them,Welsh on bets, and then brag about it ?

    To Forrem-
My attempt at a lighthearted post was a dud. However, I thought your post was perfect. You win Best First Post between us.

Let's call it a draw. I actually came here to post about something else, saw your post and decided to behave badly and call you an idiot. Wanted to jokingly make it seem like it's not the people, it's this damn site that makes people fight! Anyone who knows about the movie Asphalt Jungle is more than OK in my books...comment about you being an idiot officially retracted.

Winning at advantage video poker through the long term is not a myth. I did it for years. Never had a losing year.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ

Forrem-very cool!, hey sling, tableplay and bosox thanks for the welcomes. Mickey, (I have to smile when I say this) I think some could argue you are describing the short term. NO? When did the longterm end?

Look up the term N0 (N-zero), commonly used for blackjack. It can be applied to any gambling game.

I didn't know something called N-Zero (No) was even something to be talked about. But I just read all about Variance, Standard Deviation (SD), N-Zero (N0) and Certainty Equivalence (CE). Let me ask. Who the hell would even torture themselves thinking about those concepts? That was awful. I can't wait to get back into a casino, grab a coffee, hit a VP machine and get my head straight again. I'm gonna keep the cards I think will win, look at the women and have fun. I'm gonna get as far away from those ideas as I can. But at least I will not argue with you about it because I'm never going to think about N-Zero ever again.

Yeah- I can't imagine anything but common sense picks- anything else would tire me out. HOWEVER, I do have fun using my imagination. One guy on this forum noticed an unsuited 10 in a razgu hand- held it and hit the royal. Another time he noticed 2's kept popping up in trips so on another razgu he held alone deuce and the other 3 popped! In other words, I don't just push buttons as fast as I can, but watch for ANY possibility! It ain't math, but it sure is fu !

And has been told to umpteen times, had he hit the draw button earlier or later, he NEVER WOULD'VE GOTTEN THOSE RESULTS!!!

I never know when I'm gonna hit that button- it varies cause I'm studying the hands. Maybe I'm confusing the machine when I hit those quads!!

That's funny Slingshot. Maybe a "Confuse The Machine Strategy" has some merit. Not too much worst then some things already out there. BTW everybody seems to have heard or seen folks holding a single high card, looking for a pair and ending up with a huge hand. It happens.

You know what they say about first impressions, well I am sorry, but, Forrem had it right the first time.

Boy, doesn't that pic fit that quote like a glove! Amazing you had it. Thanks for posting it. I know it proves nothing it's just for fun.

It's not mine, but saw it recently. Definitely fun to hit nice hands, no matter the game, when starting with garbage.

My first quad on Mississippi Stud started with a hand you're supposed to fold. It was a mid card and a low card unsuited. But since I play with "information", I knew 3rd street was going to pair my mid card and give me at best a push, so I raised. Luckily, the other two of that same card followed.
