Thread: Total Rewards Bonus tier points added, but...

  1. #1
I had some free play and got lucky hitting quads on video poker. As a result, I had a lot of play and played enough during the day to earn 2,500 tier points and to earn a 5,000 Tier Bonus. Following my actual play, I checked my tier score both on several machines at the casino and on the Caesars website -- and all the point totals agreed. But Tuesday night when my 5,000 Bonus Tier Points were added I discovered my total points were less than what they should have been by several hundred points. It's as if that when they added the 5,000 Bonus points, they also subtracted about 300 base tier points.

Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone else notice any discrepancy like this?

When I was at Rincon last Saturday their system was down and they free play for that day would not go on the account. It took a few hours but it finally worked. Later that day I noticed the amount registering in the bank was off. I waited a few hours, checked the card and the amount in the bank was right. The tc and rc seemed to be right. I did get an email from Total Rewards the next day saying I had earned the bonus tier.

Just received a "Don't worry" email from Total Rewards.

    This tidbit was included:

"Through March 31st, 2015, we are giving you a 50% bonus on the first 50,000 Tier Credits you earn! So, you could walk away with up to 25,000 EXTRA Tier Credits to count towards your Tier Status, and we even started counting on January 1st."

I received this as well. Here's more:

We are open for business and will continue to operate as usual
    Total Rewards remains the same
You will continue to receive offers and comps from your favorite resorts and casinos
Your Reward Credit balance remains in place
The Tier Status you have earned for 2015 stays in place
You will continue to earn Tier Credits and Reward Credits for all of your activity
Daily Tier Credit Bonuses will remain the same through 2015
Your hotel and event reservations are secure

Our employees are here to serve you

Plus, here’s the really exciting news! We would like to take this opportunity to give you MORE!

Through March 31st, 2015, we are giving you a 50% bonus on the first 50,000 Tier Credits you earn! So, you could walk away with up to 25,000 EXTRA Tier Credits to count towards your Tier Status, and we even started counting on January 1st.*

A couple of days ago I noticed "extra" TR points in my online account at Caesars.com and I thought it was an error. I even emailed one of the forum members asking him to keep this "private" until I sorted it out. If it was an error, I didn't want to call attention to it. Now, of course, we know what this "bonus" is.

    Aaron,

Is the 50,000 tier credits base credits or 50,000 total tier credits which might include bonus tier? I noticed you said "earn" but in this case "earn" can be bonus.

    Unimpressed by this...

It also says in that same email 'Daily Tier Credit Bonuses will count toward the 50,000 Tier Credits maximum.'

If you earn a 5,000 or 10,000 bonus each day you play you will greatly reduce the maximum extra tier credits you can earn. This promo seems to be of little value.

Here's the fine print. I separated it out into different lines to make it more readable.

Member must earn at least 1,000 Tier Credits by March 31, 2015 to be eligible for the promotion.

50% Tier Credit Bonus will be awarded on up to the first 50,000 Tier Credits earned from January 1, 2015 through March 31, 2015, for a maximum total bonus of 25,000 Tier Credits.

Daily Tier Credit Bonuses will count toward the 50,000 Tier Credits maximum.

Loyalty bonuses are not earned Tier Credits and thus, are not eligible for this promotion.

Tier Credit Bonuses, including this promotion, do not count toward Reward Credit balance, promotional Tier Credit earnings, or qualifying for another daily bonus.

Total Tier Credit Bonus amount awarded through this promotion will be calculated after March 31st, 2015 and will be posted to the Total Rewards account on April 15, 2015.
So the two bolded parts are the cause for concern.

As usual, Total Rewards invents something that is super-confusing and contradictory.

"Daily Tier Credit Bonuses will count toward the 50,000 Tier Credits maximum."

    WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!

It sounds like they're saying that the daily bonuses (the ones you earn for playing a lot in one day) will subtract from the maximum you can earn from this promotion, making this mostly useless for high limit players. But what do they meant "will count toward the 50,000 Tier Credits maximum"? Perhaps it doesn't mean they will subtract, and simply that they will stop giving you this special bonus once you hit 50k tiers in any fashion.

The second bolded part probably makes this useless for me, as you get your tier credits on April 15th, regardless of when you played them. So for someone like me who needs to earn 150k tiers by March 31 in order to finish Seven Stars uninterrupted, this is useless.

Oh well. It was briefly exciting until I read the fine print.

Still would love to know the answer about "Daily Tier Credit Bonuses will count toward the 50,000 Tier Credits maximum."

I can't figure out the gobbledygook either, but I got a mystery extra 5,000 tier points added to my account. I never played enough to max out the bonus tier points for one day. But whatever is going on I am certainly happy about the extra 5,000 tier points (less the several hundred points that mysteriously disappeared -- what I wrote in my first post).

I am still waiting for the email.

First question: do they have your email? I wasn't getting emails until about six months ago because TR didn't have it and I had to opt in for email.

We never got the email either and they have our email addresses. They are constantly emailing us to take their surveys.

This is interesting. Did you get the special bonus for your play so far this year? If so, then the email doesn't matter. But if you didn't get the email, and you didn't get a bonus, then perhaps this bonus is limited to a particular list of players?

Perhaps it's limited to those who play at Caesars Palace. If I recall, you don't play much at Caesars Palace but play at Harrah's and at Planet Ho which are not impacted by the bankruptcy. On the other hand, all of my play in Vegas is at Caesars Palace which is the casino impacted by the bankruptcy and where the company might be most concerned about losing players.

I just checked the email again and we did get it.

I just spoke to a player who put only 280 points on his card earlier this month but did not receive a 50% bonus. Is the bonus universal? Is there any threshold for getting it?

Do you think that after March 31st, 2015, the bonus points will be added?

I am pretty sure my bonus points have already been added.

When you say pretty sure... Did the math end up checking out properly? The conditions for this promotion are pretty clear in saying the extra credits won't be deposited until after the quarter ends. I want to have my status earned before then, and would be delighted if they are instead issuing those credits immediately.

If the bonus isn't added until the end of the quarter then I've received thousands of extra tier points mysteriously.

I'm quite happy to hear that. I'm hopeful that it's intentional and they keep it up.

Now back to work, I'll need another days bankroll for my first trip, lol.

    Thanks =)
