I guess San Francisco is in second place these days.

Oh, I've been very aware of that more many years.

I just posted Seidel's tweet because he raises a good point. Anyone who thinks the Horseshoe branding is going to be any more than a cosmetic change is very naive about the 2020s Vegas casino industry.

Regarding being a "walking billboard", it can be a good deal if you're offered to do it. There's much less as far as sponsorship opportunities go nowadays, unless you're a big name pro or a hot chick. Being neither, I don't get such sponsorships anymore, and haven't for a long time.

However, I got a few of them in the 2000s. Like in the 09 WSOP Main, I got Hellmuth's table on Day 2, so it was the TV table. There were a bunch of agents around giving people hats and patches to wear for money. I negotiated wearing patches for two non-competing companies (one was an online poker site, one was a training site), and it paid for almost my entire buyin. Then the following year, when I made it deep in the WSOP Main, Pokerstars and Full Tilt tried to patch people up on a contingency basis. They were only going to pay you if you got on a TV table, and if you got a certain amount of screen time. I laughed at that and refused. By holding out, I got a much better deal, and ended up getting guaranteed $ to wear their hat once we got down to the final 120, escalating up to $1 million if I won the thing. I finished 88th, but the extra money for literally doing nothing was very nice.

I miss those days. Unless I make it super deep in the Main Event (the 128th in 2019 wasn't nearly good enough), I won't be seeing sponsorship $ again. Nobody wants a guy in his 50s who is primarily a cash player.

Sure it's a good deal. They need that income for their addiction. These guys can't do it on their own dime.

True for some, not for all.

I was always winning on my own, but I wasn't going to turn down the free money to wear a hat or a patch, provided the site wasn't a scam.

Laughably at the 2009 TV table, they had the nerve to offer me to wear a UB hat. I declined. I ended up wearing the patch of a different site which did not have any payout problems or cheating scandals.

There are poker pros, however, who will represent obvious scam sites as long as they get a paycheck. I've always called them out when they do.

Real interested in seeing the choice of restaurants Horseshoe goes with but I sure hope they keep BLT but I'm thinking it won't go with their county theme.
