Thread: DENIED! Welcome to 2015, where Seven Stars sometimes can't get a room...

  1. #1
This month, I experienced a "first" as a Seven Stars player.

I was denied a room on a very busy night at Caesars Palace.

    Keep in mind the following:

    - I called far more than 48 hours in advance

    - I am in good standing at all CET properties

    - I have actually played a good deal of VP lately at CET properties, though not in Vegas

    - I am current a Seven Stars member

I wanted 4 nights, 2 of which happened to coincide with a major convention.

I was told I could have the first, second, and fourth night, but the third night was "not available".

The Caesars website shows plenty of regular (non-suite) rooms still available for that date, though they are very expensive ($599+).

The CCS (800 number) told me that they were de-authorized from booking those nights complimentary for Seven Stars, and a host had to manually authorize it.

When I contacted a host, I was told that I haven't played much in Vegas when I've been there in recent times, so therefore I am DENIED a room at Caesar's during this busy date.

I was told that I can have a room at one of their lesser Vegas properties (not even Paris, though), so that's what I had to settle for.

This kinda pisses me off, because I played a LOT on wsop.com when I stayed in Vegas over the past 16 or so months, but I guess that doesn't count as "playing" in their book, even though it makes them plenty of money.

I didn't fight it, and just gave up and took the room at a different property.

I have heard for years that each property reserves the right to "black out" certain dates and deny the Seven Stars player a guaranteed comp room, but this is the first time I've seen it actually occur.

I have been expecting this exact report, and am kind of glad to hear that, at least when booking in advance, CET it's only blocking off specific properties.

I'd also be kinda ticked if i were you about them ignoring WSOP play. My BF plays poker and the only reason he has standing anywhere is if I play VP with him on his account. You'd think they'd appreciate y'alls contribution to the rake.

The really annoying thing is that WSOP.com allows you to earn Seven Stars without ever playing a CET machine or pit game, yet they treat people who play wsop.com while staying at their properties as freeloaders. Granted, it requires an obscene number of hands which probably isn't doable in a year, but ignoring that, they haven't gotten wsop.com in "sync" with what hosts expect of people.

I played VERY heavily on wsop.com during most of my Nevada CET stays in 2014.

I might bring this up with Seth Palansky (WSOP VP of communications) next time I talk to him.

BTW, is there a chance I would know your boyfriend through poker?

It's happened to me but I did not complain.

In my case it was Super Bowl weekend several years ago, and I called without even 48 hours notice. My host said I could stay in Caesars for one night, and in Bally's the second night. I did not complain.

I did not complain because in my case I didn't give them advance notice. That was my fault.

Dan, by your own admission you haven't played a dime in Vegas all of last year. As I told you -- you've gone from being overcomped to now being undercomped.

    Wrong.

I didn't play a dime in the pits or machines in 2014.

I played a lot on WSOP.com and they made thousands in rake from me -- and this was heavily promoted at all of their properties. While I am not asking for tier points or comps based upon this play, at least it shouldn't be reflecting negatively upon me (but it is).

Dan I am sure they have their thresholds for who gets what. My guess is WSOP.com doesnt count that much because if it did you wouldnt have this trouble. Is there such a thing as a host connected to WSOP.com ??

Actually, how much is thousands in rake worth if you played live poker in the poker room? Not much. If my memory is correct, live poker players earn comps at the rate of $2 an hour. So how much is the online rake worth?

They just haven't considered how to handle wsop.com play. So they ignore it.

Online rake can add up much faster than live rake, because it moves much faster and you can multi-table.

Dan, since I am unfamiliar with WSOP.com, tell me this: if Live Poker at Caesars earns $2 an hour in comps, which I guess is 200 RCs per hour, what do you think online play should earn?

  9. #9
It can't be calculated per hour. It depends on many factors, including limit played, number of tables open, number of hands per hour, etc.

    Dan,

If you really want to test whether a Seven Stars can automatically get a room, try getting a room at Ceasars Palace on May 2nd (fight night). A cash paying guest on-line can get a Roman Tower room for a measly $1,299.00.

    FAB

Isn't it pretty much like that also in the live poker room? $2 per hour comps and it doesn't matter the size of the pot of if youre at a $40 game or a $100 game or a $200.

Yes, but in the live poker room, the number of hands per hour is fairly constant at most games, and you also can't multitable.

Trust me, wsop.com gets MUCH more rake from me than the equivalent number of hours spent playing live poker.

The way I understand it the rake Is considered a fee and since you are not playing against the house comps are minuscule. Why should they give any worthwhile comps for the WSOP.com action? The casino has no edge or theoretical advantage.
