I'm sure he could have asked for a check. Why didn't he? That's the real question. I guess as an AP he couldn't stop gambling... having an advantage and all.
Redietz in another of his attempts to insult me wrote "and not sitting down at a craps table."
Sit down at a craps table?
Actually a proper phrase would be "belly up to the craps table" since the rail hits on average at the belly.
Just thought it was funny you thought you had a "gotcha moment" when he said sit at a craps table instead of belly up to a craps table. Give it up already.

You can be paid in chips from poker tournaments too.
"More importantly, mickey thought 8-4 was two games over .500. Argued about it. C'mon, man. Nothing can top that for math expertise. If GWAE ever has you on again, you can be sure I'll be calling in with that gem.'Nuff said." REDIETZ
I find that $5k chips are a pain in the ass, as casinos tend to give you a hard time about them and do their best to prove they're not yours and confiscate them.
They don't give you the same run-around with $1k chips.
So I never take $5k chips. I'll take a lot of $1k chips if necessary.
BTW when I won my bracelet in 2005 ($347,385), I took it all in cash. I could have taken it in chips if I wanted.

LOL -- while I love RS's interpretation, it was a gotcha moment. I have never played craps, and I never will play craps. I have seen motorized wheelchairs and such at the craps tables, but I should have said "stood" because Mr. Mendelson is not fat, so I apologize for the implication. He's irresponsible to readers; he's the George Costanza of gambling; and he has psychological issues, but he's not fat. RS, I owe you a meal sometime. That was brilliant.
Hey coach, E.R. had mentioned that he took the checks to the cashier and had them write a check. He doesn't carry cash after giving the casino boys a hard time -- you never know what could happen in a parking garage or enroute home. I guess E.R. spent enough time at the Stardust and Mirage to appreciate the ins and outs of Las Vegas, unlike the dudes who never heard of checks paying off sports bets.
Couldn't they cut him a check at the sports book window?
You can request a check from a slot attendant, but not from the sports book?
How about the W2G? Did they give him that with his chip stack?
How can it be established that the story is true...because you wrote "of course" ?
Did your cousin ever really tell that story?...did you even have a cousin named E.R. Dietz ?
DIfferent casinos have different procedures coach belly. And sometimes, make that often they make zero sense.
I once hit an 8000 dollar royal and because I already had significant cash on me wanted a check. They told me I had to go to table games pit to have a check cut. ?? Not the cashier, but table game pit. ??
Well I then opted for cash as I didn't want anyone at the pit knowing my name. They probably did already, but why make it easy for them.
Was this at a casino similar in size to Mandalay Bay, or was is significantly smaller?
Do you suppose that they meant that the check would be cut in the pit? Or maybe that was part of the process to get a check cut,
where a manager of some sort was stationed who would initiate the process?
Wouldn't you have found it odd if the slot attendant had told you they needed to pay you in cash or chips first, which you would then have to cart or tote across the casino to the cashier, where you could exchange it for a check?
LOL -- coach, these cannot be serious questions. Please tell the peanut gallery that you are being facetious. Yowza, they let you gamble in Atlantic City? Some things in life you gotta figure out for yourself.
You asked the initial question about getting checks from the sports book. Why do you try to play gotcha and say negative things about people when you don't have a clue what you're talking about?
P.S. I may have found a photocopy of E.R.'s check from Mandalay in that box. LOL.
I've never been to Mandalay Bay, so I'm not familiar with the logistics of the casino and cashing winning tickets.
Are you saying, that if you win a sports bet at Mandalay Bay, you must either take payment in cash or chips?
If you prefer a check, you must then cart or tote the cash or chips to a cashier, where you would exchange them for a check?
If the check itself can't be cut at the sports book, then I would expect them to give the player a ticket or voucher of some sort, that could be presented at the cashier in exchange for a check, instead of a stack of cash or chips to be carted or toted.
But I don't know for sure, so that's why I am asking the questions.
Coach, you know damn well everything sports gambling-related I post is correct. So believe me when I tell you that you are embarrassing yourself with questions like these. Las Vegas sports books do not abide by Marquess of Queensbury Rules. KewlJ tried to explain that to you, but evidently you don't listen too good, as they say.
Unlike KJ, I have zero interest in giving informational seminars to anti-AP anonymous maroons. Other than my "Shopping for Futures" posts, I don't do much charity work. If you want a brief seminar on the history and variance in Las Vegas sports book protocols, that can be arranged for a miserly fee.
Your questions, pretty much all of them, reveal that you have no idea what you're talking about.
