Me too: that's what we had.

Chinook Winds is my favorite casino, and Lincoln City my favorite "escape to" spot.

The storm was pretty intense: while climbing the outdoor stairs to our third floor motel room, a strong gust blew me backwards, nearly sending me tumbling.

But the weather at the Oregon coast can be much, much worse.

    see:

I remember one storm stranded me in Tillamook: it had 100+ mph winds.

Pretty help is hard to find at the Oregon coast.

I have two sisters that live about 40 miles from the Oregon Coast. It's about an 80 mile drive up to Chinook Winds from where they live. I've driven the coast a few times. I've even been to Cape Foulweather. You know a place has bad weather if it has a name like that. But I actually like the stormy weather when staying at the hotel on the beach at Chinook Winds with the big picture windows looking out on the ocean. There are some vulturables in the casino and from the not so much action I ran they were sending me $29 room rates for awhile. I'll be over that way again this coming year.

As with pretty much all tribal casinos around here CW is phasing out many of the old school three reel slots in favor of the newer, bigger, brighter entertainment-themed monstrosities.

I don't play VP but I note there are still what seem to be a lot of the older VP machines at CW.

Here's a couple suggestions for non-casino activities when you next visit LC:

    Prehistoric: a store devoted to all things dinosaur: unusual and worth a visit;

Nepali Cafe: a small restaurant owned by a Nepalese family that serves Nepalese food: somewhat similar to Indian food without the thick sauce.

Tanger Outlets: decent selection and prices of major brands.

Otis Cafe: "discovered" years ago by a NYC critic, it is still a great, small, funky treasure on Hwy 8 a few miles east of LC: try their German potatoes.

Robert's book shop: a big, sprawling used book store at the south side of town.

Euchre Creek deli at CW has clam chowder, the same served in the buffet, and it is quite good.

Finally, there's a radio shack with a nice selection of guns, ammo and related items.

If you get to Newport and enjoy Chinese food, try Lee's Wok: very good with large portions.

    10+ would be my rating.

As a retired person (sort of) always keeping a watchful eye on my two sons who now took things over, I spend a lot of time in front of computers. My homes are linked or tunneled (forgot the proper application name) and run off the main business computer at the main building. I get to see what’s always going on and have three-ways with my sons on certain topics. I’m probably more of a pain in the ass these days to my sons, but my experience and wisdom at times is priceless for them.

With that being said, I haven’t had the healthiest past year. Although I have a home in Nevada and live in N.Y. I only visited casinos maybe 4 different times the whole past year. Regardless what the moron bullshitters like Boz, Mick, and Reditz post about me being in casinos endlessly, it’s not true and it’s only for effect to satisfy their narrative of bullshit. These type of posts by them make my visits to the site even more delightful with endless laughs.

Most of my adult life traveling to casinos was a pain in the ass and time consuming, but when I did go the entertainment was endless. There were several years I was so busy I may have made it to casinos 2 or 3 times in a year.

I knew nothing about AP’ing nor would I have wanted to do it if I did. I might not have been back in a casino for months one visit to the next. My business was always like a monkey on my back. Endless headaches always requiring input. Living and being treated like a king for weekends with food, drink, shows, gambling, was like a fantasy to get away from the everyday race. The very last thing I would have wanted to do was drag my wife and friends around the casino trying to find games to vulture, or the bunch of us pooling our money together and playing video poker as fast as we could for as long as we could and hope to gain an edge before we left and chopped up the peanuts amongst us. Not my idea of a weekend vacation.

I’m not saying AP’ing is not possible. Of course it is to a degree. But that’s for people with access to casinos and time to do it. Usually the un-employed or people with no secure plans for the future. Anyone making a job of AP’ing has to be very close to casinos.

But claims like KJ’s of netting million plus dollars playing BJ daily in Las Vegas undetected has to get resistance without actual proof after making such a claim. Just like many other claims on this site.

Being in front of computers most of the time these days, the entertainment value reading posts and the back and forth from the same group of people about gambling is no doubt a 10+. It's always an entertaining carefree break.

What you're forgetting to bring into the spotlight blackhole is how these win-all-the-time forum "AP's" are not only seriously addicted to the gambling action---they're just as addicted to needing to post their constant flow of BS on the internet. They know true ap's wouldn't be caught dead wasting their time trying to endlessly impress the less fortunate. They also can't figure how non-ap's (other than Alan) who get banned, can actually live with that status instead of constantly having to talk on and on and on about how they were addicted to it.

But they do it anyway because they just can't help themselves. A quick roll call check finds that only mickeycrimm isn't that worried over what other people think of him. His M.O. is simply to get people to know he exists. His huge lack of self-confidence and extremely low self-esteem makes any positive gambling escapade he blabs about, regardless how worthless or foolish-sounding, into a legend in his own mind.

Whenever you mention that undisciplined, short-circuited, virtual-reality-infused weakling KJ, I get the non-stop giggles

I've been to the outlet stores, bookstore, deli, and would agree with everything you said. Also agree that the ocean view rooms are nice. I haven't been in a while but definitely will keep your suggestions in mind next visit. I personally like the McMenamins Lighthouse Brewpub. It's a decent spot for happy hour if looking to step outside of the casino, but it's also right down the road and not far away. Also, I suggest to anyone going to skip a visit to Mo's. They used to be really good a long time ago for Clam Chowder, but they've been skating by on their reputation for far too long and the quality has deteriorated greatly. I still can't believe they opened a location in the PDX airport.
