You bet I do.
Here's an example of how the shit on these boards can intrude in real life, and how I feel about it: at a WoVCon hot blonde accosted me about some unflattering shit I posted about her; she had some guy tagging along with her, trying to look tough; she said I should apologize.
I literally laughed in her face, I told her i meant what I said: I stood my ground.
That's what I do.
I have no "christian friends:" my two best friends are both lapsed catholics (one of them hiked the Camino twice recently though, on a spiritual jaunt).
My wife is also an atheist.
On the rare occasions that someone else is stupid enough to bring up religion in conversation I let them know I don't believe, and if that doesn't shut them up then I view that as a license to debate and I start telling them how I look at things.
There is no god, no son of god, no holy ghost, no virgin birth.
The notion that there is an afterlife, a heaven and hell, is delusional.
Jesus probably lived, as did Mohammad, but they were mortal men who were admirable but not divine.
A keen student of history I am mindful of the never ending bloodshed and turmoil which religion has fomented.
Were we all atheists things would be a helluva lot calmer, and humanity would be more likely to suffer less.
As far as someone trying to whack me betwixt the teeth: I haven't been in a fist fight for many years, but I doubt I've forgotten how; some things you never forget.
Now I lift weights and work out daily, I can probably take care of myself well enough, but I've no real desire to put it to the test as I've a lot to lose.
I've no illusions, but I'm pretty sure I'd give at least as much as I'd get in an exchange.
These days I fight with words, not fists: it's a bit safer.
