I still don't see the rationale for accepting chips.

For the record you'd have a hard time making bets and picking up chips if you sit. Of course non craps players wouldn't know that.

I find that $5k chips are a pain in the ass, as casinos tend to give you a hard time about them and do their best to prove they're not yours and confiscate them.

They don't give you the same run-around with $1k chips.

So I never take $5k chips. I'll take a lot of $1k chips if necessary.

BTW when I won my bracelet in 2005 ($347,385), I took it all in cash. I could have taken it in chips if I wanted.

LOL -- while I love RS's interpretation, it was a gotcha moment. I have never played craps, and I never will play craps. I have seen motorized wheelchairs and such at the craps tables, but I should have said "stood" because Mr. Mendelson is not fat, so I apologize for the implication. He's irresponsible to readers; he's the George Costanza of gambling; and he has psychological issues, but he's not fat. RS, I owe you a meal sometime. That was brilliant.

Hey coach, E.R. had mentioned that he took the checks to the cashier and had them write a check. He doesn't carry cash after giving the casino boys a hard time -- you never know what could happen in a parking garage or enroute home. I guess E.R. spent enough time at the Stardust and Mirage to appreciate the ins and outs of Las Vegas, unlike the dudes who never heard of checks paying off sports bets.

Yes. Usually it's one of the two positions next to the inside dealers. Last week in Reno I saw a guy (not fat) sitting at stick-right-1.

DIfferent casinos have different procedures coach belly. And sometimes, make that often they make zero sense.

I once hit an 8000 dollar royal and because I already had significant cash on me wanted a check. They told me I had to go to table games pit to have a check cut. ?? Not the cashier, but table game pit. ??

Well I then opted for cash as I didn't want anyone at the pit knowing my name. They probably did already, but why make it easy for them.

Do you suppose that they meant that the check would be cut in the pit? Or maybe that was part of the process to get a check cut,
where a manager of some sort was stationed who would initiate the process?

Wouldn't you have found it odd if the slot attendant had told you they needed to pay you in cash or chips first, which you would then have to cart or tote across the casino to the cashier, where you could exchange it for a check?

Coach, you know damn well everything sports gambling-related I post is correct. So believe me when I tell you that you are embarrassing yourself with questions like these. Las Vegas sports books do not abide by Marquess of Queensbury Rules. KewlJ tried to explain that to you, but evidently you don't listen too good, as they say.
